The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Sporting Reifeles went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Sporting used their formidable (9) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. Grilled's Gústav Thoroddsen managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 9 minutes. 0 - 1. 10 minutes in, and Sporting were able to score the equalising goal to make it 1 - 1 when Lim Eng Liang picked up a pass coming in from the right and chipped it past the away team's keeper. Some quick footwork on the left side of the field 27 minutes into the match left Grilled's Hwang Teck Fu completely free to score. 1 - 2 for the visitors. After 28 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Phua Ming Xin who increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 3. After 30 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed Federico Parada to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 4. 1 - 4 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.

With 47 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Phua Ming Xin. 55 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Sporting substitution. Bakhtiar Fathi came on for Chan Ping Tian. 55 minutes into the game, Sporting wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Helmi Najmussabah gave Chase Nguyen a quick hug as he left the field. As Helmi Najmussabah exited the field, Ben Doan volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. Gústav Thoroddsen could have put his team up another goal 56 minutes into the game, after a rush down the left, but his closing shot hit the post. The home crowd was not impressed when Aw Keng Chuan came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 70 minutes. Grilled were now up 1 - 6. Aw Keng Chuan would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Damian Hutter entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 75 minutes. Phua Ming Xin received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 75 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 7. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. That was his third goal of the match - a hat trick for Phua Ming Xin. Federico Parada increased Grilled's lead to 1 - 8 with a superb free kick strike that flew in just under the far top corner. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Phua Ming Xin off the field. Chan Ze Han took his place. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Federico Parada reluctantly made way for Egemen Dinçer Ferzan on the pitch. As Federico Parada left the field, the coach signaled to Chan Ze Han to be the new set pieces taker. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 3 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 8. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 67 percent of the time.

Ben Doan performed admirably for Sporting. Tang Tse Chun on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was Gústav Thoroddsen. Damian Hutter was a disappointment, however.
