The teams had chosen different formations for the match. Home team Torpedo BF went for 3-5-2 while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 4 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! Grilled's
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 9 minutes. 0 - 1. Due to some great work on the right wing Torpedo's
Ghislain Pille was able to even the score after 14 minutes to make the score 1 - 1. The home keeper expected a move to the right, but
Radovan Jaška surprised him with a free kick aimed the other way 25 minutes into the match. 1 - 2 for Grilled. The visitors'
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 29 minutes into the match. 1 - 3 for Grilled. After 33 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
Paulino Trindade to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 1 - 4. Halftime score was 1 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 62 percent of the time.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Gústav Thoroddsen came on for
Phua Ming Xin. After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Ibnou Balde off the field.
Evandro La Face took his place.
Mohsen El Khateeb behaved like an inexperienced youth player after 48 minutes as he gave the ball away to
Ghislain Pille. Lucky for him though, there was no goal. With 55 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 1 - 5 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Gandhik Chitre. Following a nasty collision in the 56, Grilled's
Mohsen El Khateeb complained of a damaged shoulder. He was advised against continuing the game.
Bhavya Panigrahi tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. The home crowd was not impressed when
Lim An Keng came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 65 minutes. Grilled were now up 1 - 6. The referee showed Torpedo's
Amidou Dakuyo the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Cameron Law was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his left knee after 69 minutes.
Aw Keng Chuan rose to the challenge and took position between the goal posts. The home crowd was given a certain amount of consolation when
Fousseni Saré scored after a brilliant midfield combination through the centre, reducing the lead to 2 - 6.
Lim An Keng received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 73 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 2 - 7. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Pierre Aurier got himself booked. The manager of Torpedo was not happy. After 79 minutes, Grilled's
Paulino Trindade burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 8. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 4 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 2 - 8. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
Amidou Dakuyo performed admirably for Torpedo.
Ghislain Pille turned in a dismal performance, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Gústav Thoroddsen. However,
Bhavya Panigrahi made a disastrous appearance.
