KickzFC 0 - 7 Grilled

The 29964 fans in attendance at KickzZzzz were roasting in the hot sun. Renatas Kazarauskas was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Juan Carlos Cúneo and Gerner Keinicke. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. KickzFC's lineup was: Diouf - Tresch, Peloušek, Rudobrody, Eckby, Gojčeta - Čejka, Sertório - Spiridonov, Bal, Prastashvili.

Grilled fielded: Germanakos - Keng Chuan, Hutter - Baena, Teck Fu, An Keng, Khairul, Parada - Reece, Ming Xin, Tokarz.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 5-2-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. KickzFC were relying on their world class (13) ability to counter-attack. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (20) level with that tactic. Federico Parada came close to putting the visiting team one up 19 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but Younouss Diouf managed to tip the ball to a corner. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. The visiting Joe Reece was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 32 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. 33 minutes into the match, Orest Tokarz came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Good work by the KickzFC defensive line after 34 minutes produced a good counterattack chance, which cut elegantly down the middle of the pitch and found Eugénio Sertório alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. After 35 minutes, Eugénio Sertório got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. Jerzy Rudobrody went down after twisting his right ankle in minute 36, but was able to continue the match none the less. The home crowd was not impressed when Enrique Baena came in from the right, shooting hard to score after 38 minutes. Grilled were now up 0 - 2. The visitors' Mohd Marzuki Khairul took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 39 minutes into the match. 0 - 3 for Grilled. It was 0 - 3 at the break. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 88 percent of possession.

After 60 minutes, the KickzFC coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Per Eckby off the field. Abel Gualter took his place. The visitors added to their lead 67 minutes into the game, after a sensational penalty kick by Grilled's Federico Parada slid just past the home keeper. 0 - 4. 70 minutes into the game, KickzFC wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Eugénio Sertório gave Ignacio Estrázulas a quick hug as he left the field. The home keeper was stunned 71 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by Federico Parada and dived in the wrong direction. The visitors increased the lead to 0 - 5. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Chan Ze Han came on for Joe Reece. After 83 minutes, Grilled's Phua Ming Xin burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 6. Grilled's Orest Tokarz blocked one attack after another by KickzFC, finally picking the ball up for himself and powering through towards the goal. It paid off! 0-7 after 84 minutes. Chan Ze Han was, after 85 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Younouss Diouf made the save. KickzFC's defence sent a ball soaring up the middle on a beautiful counterattack with 86 minutes gone, but Zdeněk Peloušek's finish was met by the reaching hands of the keeper. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Enrique Baena reluctantly made way for Paulino Trindade on the pitch. Aw Keng Chuan would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Radovan Jaška entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 7. Grilled had most of the ball, with 91 percent of possession.

The most dominating KickzFC player was without a doubt Younouss Diouf. Ignacio Estrázulas turned in a dismal performance, however. Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand, Radovan Jaška's play was disheartening.
