Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Offshore Haven, the formation of choice was 5-5-0. The crowd groaned its disapproval when
Aw Keng Chuan missed a free kick that would have given Grilled the lead after 8 minutes. Many thought
Phua Ming Xin ought to have been awarded a penalty 15 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Mok Kum Da after a determined run through the middle.
Phua Ming Xin of Grilled received a yellow card after 21 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Grilled's
Chad Thach showed off his trademark ability to do the unexpected with a tricky pass after 22 minutes. Unfortunately,
Phua Ming Xin was startled by the play and wasn't able to control the finish. After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
Phua Ming Xin scored for Grilled putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 25 minutes. With 34 minutes gone, Grilled had a free kick in a decent position. Despite this being a great chance for a shot, they tried a cheeky move intended to bypass the defence. However,
Chia Kwang Tse did not manage to connect with it cleanly and the ball went out. Grilled solidified their lead at the 35 minute mark, as
Chad Thach dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Egemen Diner Ferzan off the field.
Paulino Trindade took his place.
Phua Ming Xin was handed the Grilled captain's armband. The home side's
Orest Tokarz came close to extending the lead 64 minutes into the game. His shot came in from the right hand side but
Mok Kum Da managed to save it with an unbelievable reaction stop. Coming from the right,
Phua Ming Xin almost managed to score another goal for Grilled, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Chia Kwang Tse squirmed through their central defence after 80 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Grilled's
Ibnou Balde somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for
Phua Ming Xin, who struck for 4 - 0. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Joe Reece increasing the lead to 5 - 0. 87 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as
Orest Tokarz broke through, making the score 6 - 0 for Grilled. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Damian Hutter gave
Hwang Teck Fu a quick hug as he left the field. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 6 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 74 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Mohd Marzuki Khairul.
Hwang Teck Fu turned in a dismal performance, however. Offshore's best player was
Kwa Soon Hui. However,
Lin Hock Chao made a disastrous appearance.
