Grilled 6 - 2 ForeverIndia

Due to an all-day shower, 6408 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at The Cooking Pot. Camillo Compare was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Bjørnar Kjærgård and Marius Ştirbulescu. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. Grilled's starters: Vadalà - Mangoye, Hutter - Baena, An Keng, Keng Chuan, Teck Fu, Trindade - Chitre, El Khateeb, Balde.

The following players took the field for ForeverIndia: Kupferman - George, Bezbarua, Panigrahi - Biswal, Golia, Höcketstaller, Karnik - Kosunen, Agarkar, Bhuyan.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-4-3. A questionable penalty 17 minutes in gave the home side the lead, 1 - 0. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as Atang Mangoye knocked the ball home. Grilled's Mohsen El Khateeb swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Erkka Kosunen got himself booked. The manager of ForeverIndia was not happy. Grilled increased the lead as Enrique Baena struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. Grilled's Atang Mangoye got himself booked for a foul. Yarin Kupferman was caught napping as Atang Mangoye lifted a ball over him following a free kick, but the ball hit the bar, rebounding into the keeper's arms. In minute 35, Lim An Keng went down in terrible pain, clutching his left ankle. This was a returning injury and, needless to say, he could not continue the match. The player that took his place was Mohd Marzuki Khairul. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 59 percent of possession.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Chan Ze Han came on for Mohsen El Khateeb. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's Paulino Trindade increasing the lead to 3 - 0. The referee showed ForeverIndia's Ujendra Karnik the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Chan Ze Han squirmed through their central defence after 58 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, ForeverIndia's Ujendra Karnik somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Sukhdev Biswal, who struck for 4 - 1. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Damian Hutter gave Bhavya Panigrahi a quick hug as he left the field. Grilled put themselves up 5 - 1 when Chan Ze Han broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. Aw Keng Chuan could have increased the lead after 79 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. The visitors replied 81 minutes into the game, reducing the home side's lead to 5 - 2, as Erkka Kosunen dashed up the middle, easily lobbing the ball over the home team's keeper. 82 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Chan Ze Han broke through, making the score 6 - 2 for Grilled. At that, Chan Ze Han was noted down for a hat trick! It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 4 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 6 - 2. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.

Aw Keng Chuan performed admirably for Grilled. Manuel Vadalà turned in a dismal performance, however. ForeverIndia's top performer was clearly Golam Bhuyan. However, Ujendra Karnik made a disastrous appearance.
