Offshore 0 - 7 Grilled
It was an exceptionally sunny day for the crowd of 21603 that came out to
The Bank.
Jean-Jacques Mergaerts was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ilja van Zetten and
Liborio Negroni. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. Offshore's lineup was:
Kum Da -
Min Leong,
Boon Xin,
Petrozzi,
Davis -
Badrun,
Balabuc,
Soon Hui,
Izamit,
Jaminet -
Xin Chin.
The following players took the field for Grilled:
Germanakos -
Mangoye,
Hutter -
Baena,
Khairul,
Keng Chuan,
Teck Fu,
Trindade -
Chitre,
Ming Xin,
Balde.
Offshore Haven started the game in a 4-5-1 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Offshore tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their magnificent (12) level with that tactic. The visiting
Phua Ming Xin was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 11 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 0 - 1 was the score. Grilled's
Enrique Baena was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 23 minutes. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
Gandhik Chitre after 24 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. The visitors added to their lead 37 minutes into the game, after a sensational penalty kick by Grilled's
Atang Mangoye slid just past the home keeper. 0 - 2.
Sky Davis really should have scored when he was chosen by fate to confront a wide open goal following a great play by
Franco Petrozzi after a corner.
Aw Keng Chuan of Grilled took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 41 minutes which increased the away team's lead to 0 - 3. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 64 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Atang Mangoye off the field.
Mohsen El Khateeb took his place. As
Atang Mangoye left the field, the coach signaled to
Aw Keng Chuan to be the new set pieces taker.
Enrique Baena became the new Grilled captain. After 53 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Hwang Teck Fu who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 4. After 54 minutes,
Dan Balabuc sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected
Ng Xin Chin's shot.
Gandhik Chitre received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 63 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 0 - 5. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. 67 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. After 72 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
Gandhik Chitre to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 6.
Dimitris Germanakos was unable to continue, following a slight injury to his left knee after 73 minutes. The replacement for the injured player was
Manuel Vadal. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Ibnou Balde gave
Bilal Mohammad Harun a quick hug as he left the field. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 3 minutes as stoppage time. Grilled increased the lead to 0 - 7 as
Aw Keng Chuan scored from the penalty spot, putting the ball in near the top left corner. The match ends 0 - 7. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 66 percent of the time.
Offshore's top performer was clearly
Ghaffur Badrun.
Enrique Izamit on the other hand, had a terrible day.
Aw Keng Chuan performed admirably for Grilled.
Manuel Vadal was a disappointment, however.
