Talpons 1 - 4 Grilled
17044 punters turned up at
The Pragmatic Elegant Next-gen Intricate Stadium, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Giorgio 'Piggle' Pigozzo was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Urbano Cazzani and
René Kastrup. The match took place on neutral ground. Talpons fielded:
Seyfer -
Vergori,
Kalski,
Bejgu -
Josephsen,
Pasenko,
Licata,
Antonarelli,
Gheorghe -
Griinari,
Carocci.
Grilled's lineup was:
Germanakos -
Mangoye,
Hutter -
Baena,
Khairul,
Keng Chuan,
Teck Fu,
Trindade -
Chitre,
Ming Xin,
Balde.
Talpons started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled clearly preferred using their extra-terrestrial (16) ability to attack in the middle. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 14 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
Sulo Griinari, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. The visitors didn't give in and, after 15 minutes,
Aw Keng Chuan got through the home side's central line of defence, rolling in the equaliser to make it 1 - 1. 1 - 2 was the score with 20 minutes played, after
Gandhik Chitre cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. After the ball was lifted in from the left,
Enrique Baena was on his own in the home side's penalty area and should have scored after 21 minutes, but missed, probably due to lack of concentration. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. After 22 minutes, Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 3. It was 1 - 3 at the break. Grilled had most of the ball, with 62 percent of possession.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Bhavya Panigrahi came on for
Atang Mangoye.
Atang Mangoye was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that
Bhavya Panigrahi got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills.
Bhavya Panigrahi became the new Grilled captain. The head of
Paulino Trindade connected with a corner kick after 48 minutes, and the ball ended up with
Phua Ming Xin of Grilled who blasted the ball into the net, making the score 1 - 4. The coach of Grilled was happy with the game so far, but still wanted to change the line up. After 48 minutes,
Mohsen El Khateeb came on for
Phua Ming Xin. With 53 minutes played,
Ibnou Balde nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. After 60 minutes, Talpons switched
Jan Josephsen with
Daniel Gąbka, hoping for a quick impact on the pitch. With 60 minutes played, the Talpons coach decided a substitution may help turn the game around.
Gédéon Agoli came on,
Sorin Gheorghe had to leave the fray. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Ibnou Balde reluctantly made way for
Kalki Parvathaneni on the pitch. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
Petro Pasenko performed admirably for Talpons.
Drago Seyfer on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Aw Keng Chuan.
Bhavya Panigrahi was a disappointment, however.
