As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. International displayed their outstanding (10) ability to play creatively. With 7 minutes played, the visitors broke through on the right after some poor defending.
Umut Koza put the ball away for 0 - 1. After 23 minutes of play, the free-spirited
Chad Thach decided to go for goal as he struck the ball from the corner of the pitch. The ball hit a defender in the face and bounced out of play. Grilled were close to equalising with a spectacular free kick by
Chan Ze Han after 26 minutes, but
Darshana De Abrew made a great save, tipping it to a corner. 29 minutes into the match, Grilled's
Joe Reece maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1. 35 minutes into the game,
Phua Li Kong had to leave the field due to a rib injury.
Leri Bezhanishvili had already been warming up, and came on for
Phua Li Kong. The home side put themselves ahead 2 - 1 after 37 minutes courtesy of a breakthrough from
Damian Hutter, who scored with a stunning volley following a cross from the right wing. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 62 percent.
With 49 minutes played, seemingly due to lack of experience,
Damian Hutter needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. Grilled managed to extend their lead to 3 - 1 when
Joe Reece cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Damian Hutter squirmed through their central defence after 63 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 1. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Damian Hutter increasing the lead to 5 - 1. By then
Damian Hutter had scored three goals - a hat trick!
Damian Hutter increased the lead for Grilled to 6 - 1, getting a head onto a hooked ball from the right. The ball looked to have taken a deflection on the way in, but he's claiming it! 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a International substitution.
Abdul Hamid bin Hj Ali Timbang came on for
Arcadi Sansalvador. 80 minutes into the game, International wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Tamit bin Said gave
Sazwan bin Hj Muhd Salleh a quick hug as he left the field. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Grilled solidified their lead at the 90 minute mark, as
Mohd Marzuki Khairul dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 7 - 1. The match ends 7 - 1. Grilled had most of the ball, with 63 percent of possession.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled.
Damian Hutter turned in a dismal performance, however. International's top performer was clearly
Chua Jun Long. On the other hand,
Abdul Hamid bin Hj Ali Timbang's play was disheartening.
