Dark skies made the crowd of 3041 at The Cooking Pot a little nervous, but the rain held off. Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Deportivo La Chispa lined up in a 5-3-2 formation. Counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Deportivo, taking advantage of their titanic (15) level with that tactic. 15 minutes into the game, Aleksander Kristoffersen finished off a Deportivo left wing counterattack, making the score 0 - 1. A handball in the penalty area gave the home team a penalty 28 minutes into the match, and Teo Chuan Yong was able to score, taking the scoreline to 1 - 1. After 35 minutes, Alfonso Acurio was massaging his left knee with a worried look on his face, but managed to get up in the end. Deportivo's Fortunato Chicata was shown a yellow card after 37 minutes for slicing down an opponent. After 38 minutes, Aw Keng Chuan was massaging his left knee with a worried look on his face, but managed to get up in the end. It wasn't a pretty goal, but the free kick by Teo Chuan Yong after 39 minutes somehow found its way past the keeper. Grilled takes the lead, 2 - 1! With things not going too well on the field, the Deportivo coach made the decision to swap the positions of Micka�l Stievenard and Volkan El�i with 40 minutes played. Aw Keng Chuan was unable to continue, as he once again hurt that bad left knee of his. He left the field in frustration in minute 41. This gave Paulino Trindade a chance to take to the field instead. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 1. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 69 percent of the ball.

The counterattacks of Deportivo were deadly and 54 minutes into the game, Micka�l Stievenard received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 2 - 2. After 55 minutes, the Deportivo coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Aleksander Kristoffersen off the field. Hakan Umman took his place. As Aleksander Kristoffersen left the field, the coach signaled to Hakan Umman to be the new set pieces taker. 56 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good cross from the right found Gandhik Chitre alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. 60 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Gilbert Webb gave Mohsen El Khateeb a quick hug as he left the field. The visiting Volkan El�i was booed thoroughly by the home crowd 62 minutes into the game, after he broke through the middle and scored, resulting in the visitors taking the lead. 2 - 3 was the score. 63 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Deportivo substitution. Pierre Ouvrard came on for Micka�l Stievenard. Pierre Ouvrard became the new Deportivo captain. Deportivo's Hakan Umman got himself booked for a foul. The crowd chanted their encouragement as Grilled's Paulino Trindade came in from the right after 69 minutes and put the ball in the net to level the score at 3 - 3. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave Pierre Ouvrard from Deportivo a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 75 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Hwang Teck Fu went down after twisting his right ankle after 75 minutes, and had to leave the pitch. Chia Kwang Tse tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. Sven-Ivar Sunderberg would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Idris Al Harbai entered the game for Deportivo as the match clock showed 76 minutes. With 77 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 4 - 3 lead as Chia Kwang Tse flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 5 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 4 - 3. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 71 percent.

Grilled's top performer was clearly Chia Kwang Tse. Manuel Vadal� on the other hand, had a terrible day. Deportivo's best player was Hakan Umman. However, Ysmael Vega made a disastrous appearance.
