Grilled 5 - 1 French-972

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 4633 to The Cooking Pot. Selwyn Browne was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Douma Xaci and Georg Lonien. The following players took the field for Grilled: Law - Mangoye, El Khateeb - Baena, Kwang Tse, Chitre, Teck Fu, Trindade - Ferzan, Chuan Yong, Mohammad Harun.

French-972's lineup was: Anees - Junda, Kusal - Hussain, Al-Salmany, Pattyn, Hamilton, Weidenfeller - Berthelsen, 有坂 (Arisaka), Hasret.

The teams both lined up their players in 2-5-3 formations. French-972 demonstrated their magnificent (12) creative tactics on the field. Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up after 7 minutes as Gandhik Chitre got through on the left. However, his concentration failed him, and he shot wide. 15 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Grilled was Chia Kwang Tse. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Grilled scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Hwang Teck Fu after 23 minutes. A speedy charge from the left side of the field increased the lead of Grilled to 3 - 0 as Mohsen El Khateeb finished it off competently, firing in from an acute angle. French-972 fought on and, after 30 minutes, Leo 'Le bourreau' Berthelsen was able to reduce the deficit to 3 - 1 after some excellent moves on the right side were finished off with an incredibly clever chip. Having taken a hard knock between his legs, Paulino Trindade limped off the pitch in a reduced state of dignity. He could not continue, with 32 minutes on the clock, could this prove costly for his team? This gave Damian Hutter a chance to take to the field instead. Grilled's Hwang Teck Fu swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. It was 3 - 1 at the break. Grilled had most of the ball, with 61 percent of possession.

After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Chia Kwang Tse off the field. Mohd Marzuki Khairul took his place. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Gandhik Chitre reluctantly made way for Aw Keng Chuan on the pitch. Teo Chuan Yong almost put Grilled ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide. 68 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty that Teo Chuan Yong turned into 4 - 1 without a problem. After 73 minutes, Teo Chuan Yong was massaging his right knee with a worried look on his face, but managed to get up in the end. Grilled managed to extend their lead to 5 - 1 when Egemen Dinçer Ferzan cut in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 3 minutes as stoppage time. Kittiphan Junda was in no condition to play on. He left the field limping after 90 minutes, with his left thigh bandaged. Qabir Mobin had already been warming up, and came on for Kittiphan Junda. The match ends 5 - 1. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

Aw Keng Chuan performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand, Cameron Law's play was disheartening. French-972's best player was Leo 'Le bourreau' Berthelsen. Qabir Mobin was a disappointment, however.
