The 1373 spectators at Rob the Newbies Arena were in for an afternoon of sunshine. Vincent Alexander was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Scipio Carnovale and Ferenc Papp. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The following players had been chosen by Newbies: Cordeiro Ferreira - Wahid, Meng Jin, Raghavendra - Aik Aik, Reddy, Tian Cheng, Choon Keong, Mohd Sabre - Kong Fu, Chu Rong.

Grilled fielded: Vadalà - Mangoye, Jaška - Baena, Kwang Tse, Chitre, Khairul, Trindade - Ferzan, Chuan Yong, Mohammad Harun.

Rob the Newbies started the game in a 3-5-2 formation, whereas Grilled Birds lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled showed off their magnificent (12) creative tactics. The home crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief when Bilal Mohammad Harun was unable to put the ball in the net after his show of skill down the left 8 minutes into the match. He was seen beating the pitch in frustration at missing such a good chance to give his team the lead! André Ricardo Cordeiro Ferreira looked great 9 minutes into the match after stopping a shot from the middle of the penalty area from the visitors' Mohd Marzuki Khairul. A mistake by the home side's central defence after 11 minutes allowed Egemen Dinçer Ferzan to score for Grilled. The scoreboard now read 0 - 1. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Aw Tian Cheng got himself booked. The manager of Newbies was not happy. André Ricardo Cordeiro Ferreira got a fingertip on Paulino Trindade's shot from the left 21 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. The home crowd cheered when, after 28 minutes, Bilal Mohammad Harun's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. 0 - 1 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 74 percent.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Gandhik Chitre reluctantly made way for Aw Keng Chuan on the pitch. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Kalki Parvathaneni came on for Bilal Mohammad Harun. It was a fine day for Enrique Baena on his wing, his cross pass to Aw Keng Chuan was especially delicate 55 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. Paulino Trindade was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by Radovan Jaška, but the ball bounced off the post to safety. The visitors' Kalki Parvathaneni took advantage of a misunderstanding between the home side's goalie and centre backs 69 minutes into the match. 0 - 2 for Grilled. With 76 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 3 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was Enrique Baena. Had it not been for one of the home defenders, Aw Keng Chuan would have put Grilled up another goal 77 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled were awarded a penalty and Teo Chuan Yong was able to increase the visitors' lead to 0 - 4 rolling the ball in by the right post. The referee showed Grilled's Egemen Dinçer Ferzan the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. After 85 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Teo Chuan Yong off the field. Moey Xin Seng took his place. Teo Chuan Yong was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that Moey Xin Seng got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. The visitors nearly scored again after 85 minutes, but a superb save by André Ricardo Cordeiro Ferreira kept Moey Xin Seng's free kick out of the net. The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 0 - 4. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 75 percent of the time.

André Ricardo Cordeiro Ferreira performed admirably for Newbies. Quah Meng Jin was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Aw Keng Chuan. However, Manuel Vadalà made a disastrous appearance.
