Grilled 3 - 2 Phantasm

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 57681 at The Cooking Pot today. Jim Morrison was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Alejandro Martn Borges and Daniel Len. Grilled fielded: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Hutter - Ferzan, Thach, Keng Chuan, An Keng, Parada - Reece, Tokarz, Ze Han.

The following players had been chosen by Phantasm: Wei - Meng Hock, Leong Kiong, Kong Siong, Rong Wei - Seng Wee, Ping Beng, Fadhlurrahman, Shasthri, Awal - Hao Heng.

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Phantasm Hotspurs lined up in a 4-5-1 formation. For their match strategy, Phantasm had decided to use their world class (13) ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Grilled's Egemen Diner Ferzan had a good first touch on the flank, but was crowded and, after a change of plan, sent the ball to Lim An Keng who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. Grilled's Orest Tokarz got himself booked for a foul. 43 minutes into the match Grilled's Aw Keng Chuan head butted an opponent nastily, and so the referee sent him off immediately. Mak Hao Heng was first to reach a ball launched long through the center from Phantasm's defence 44 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the goalkeeper to make the score 0 - 1. 0 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 68 percent of the time.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Lim An Keng gave Hwang Teck Fu a quick hug as he left the field. Grilled's Bhavya Panigrahi put his head to a well placed ball, lifted in from the left, and scored to make the score 1 - 1 with 50 minutes showing on the scoreboard clock. An accurate cross from Federico Parada of Grilled was met with a wonderful glancing header from Joe Reece, hitting the inside base of the post before nestling into the back of the net for 2 - 1. Mak Hao Heng finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just past the home side's keeper, making the score 2 - 2 64 minutes into the match. With 69 minutes played, the home side managed to get a 3 - 2 lead as Chan Ze Han flipped the ball in after a cross from the right. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Bhavya Panigrahi reluctantly made way for Gilbert Webb on the pitch. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 3 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.

Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. On the other hand, Gilbert Webb's play was disheartening. Phantasm's best player was Maxx Wei. However, Foong Seng Wee made a disastrous appearance.
