Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Gotham Team FC lined up in a 3-5-2 formation. Grilled displayed their brilliant (11) ability to play creatively. Pressing was the tactic of the day for Gotham, taking advantage of their inadequate (5) level with that tactic. 15 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Grilled was José Luiz Velho. Coming from the right, Chia Kwang Tse almost managed to score another goal for Grilled, but his header was tipped over the bar by the visitors' keeper. Carlos Antonio Quitián was in no condition to play on. 34 minutes into the game he left the field on a stretcher, with his left thigh bandaged, and crying out in pain. This gave Alonso Barrera a chance to take to the field instead. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Hwang Teck Fu squirmed through their central defence after 36 minutes, increasing the lead to 2 - 0. Gotham's ability to press all over the field frequently paid dividends. Danya Shmekker would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Carlos Desiderio Hauche entered the game for Gotham as the match clock showed 44 minutes. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 69 percent of the time.

While defending the Grilled lead, Hwang Teck Fu got a new role. 46 minutes in the game, his coach ordered him to change positions with Mohd Marzuki Khairul. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Teo Chuan Yong gave Prokop Mottl a quick hug as he left the field. With Teo Chuan Yong no longer on the pitch, Gilbert Webb became the new set pieces taker. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Gotham coach decided it was time for a substitution. Atanazy Dzienisiewicz reluctantly made way for Tulio Morales on the pitch. Chia Kwang Tse should probably have put his team up another goal after 50 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by Alonso Barrera kept the visitors in the game. Always quick and a menace to his opponents, Carlos Desiderio Hauche was very close to getting through after 56 minutes, but he could only put the ball into the keeper's arms. With 60 minutes played, Grilled's Egemen Dinçer Ferzan almost extended the lead, but his shot from the left glanced off the top of the bar to fall behind the net. A great save by keeper Alonso Barrera after 61 minutes kept the visitors in the game after Mohd Marzuki Khairul struck from the left with a real cannonball. After 70 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving Atang Mangoye off the field. Radovan Jaška took his place. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Mohsen El Khateeb came on for Gilbert Webb. As Gilbert Webb left the field, the coach signaled to Radovan Jaška to be the new set pieces taker. Grilled's Prokop Mottl swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball. Gotham's talent at pressing frustrated the spectators as the game became a dire midfield struggle. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minute of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 2 - 0. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 69 percent of possession.

Chia Kwang Tse performed admirably for Grilled. Manuel Vadalà was a disappointment, however. Most important Gotham player was Pablo Cabrera. However, Carlos Desiderio Hauche made a disastrous appearance.
