Grilled Birds trundled out to the pitch in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, FC Nightelves, chose to start the game with a 4-5-0 lineup. Grilled used their world class (13) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Nightelves used their titanic (15) ability to focus on getting players in position for long range shots.
Thierry Kunz caught everyone off guard with a great opening pass - but unfortunately
Silvan Hildenbrand was as surprised by the move as anybody else, and managed to miss the extraordinary opportunity. A free kick aimed at the keeper's far post almost gave Nightelves the lead 17 minutes in, but the ball just wasn't able to squirm its way through the defensive wall. Nightelves focused on finding shooting opportunities from distance and after 22 minutes
Vincenzo Gallantina fired off the big cannon, but the shot went sailing over the cross bar and almost cleared the stands! 27 minutes in, Nightelves appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only inadequate (5). Nightelves's
Erwan Laine could have put the guests one up 33 minutes in after chasing a through ball from the right, but
Dimitris Germanakos was as quick as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. Nightelves had a good opportunity to score the go-ahead goal after a combination on the right but the home team's keeper
Dimitris Germanakos saved
Piero Sigalini's shot that was headed straight to the top corner. Halftime score was 0 - 0. Let's go to the Twittersphere to see what the fans think of the game so far! says The Nightelves coach might have gone through a whole marker putting the playbook up on the board, but it seemed to have worked, with the team regaining a solid (7) organization for the second half. After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Moey Xin Seng off.
Kalki Parvathaneni took his place. The visitors were very close to gaining the lead with a marvelous free kick after 47 minutes, but
Dimitris Germanakos made a beautiful one-handed save. It was obvious that Nightelves set up their play to get a shooter in position, and after 59 minutes they succeeded with their tactics when
Kusisa Serrano found a hole in the defense and his long shot left the keeper without a chance. 0 - 1. The visitors nearly scored again after 65 minutes, but a superb save by
Dimitris Germanakos kept
Kusisa Serrano's free kick out of the net. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Aw Keng Chuan looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Chia Kwang Tse, though he would have liked to continue. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. After 89 minutes, Nightelves's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. The match ends 0 - 1. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Take Me To Your Lizard tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han. Good thing
Damian Hutter isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Most important Nightelves player was
Christian Hller. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Kelaja Gareus today.
