It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 5-4-1. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their world class (13) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. The visitors would have taken the lead from a free kick in minute 9 were it not for the jaw-dropping save by
Dimitris Germanakos. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents, Grilled's
Chad Thach got himself booked.
Boris Fofié came close to putting the visiting team one up 29 minutes into the match, following a solo raid down the middle, but
Dimitris Germanakos managed to tip the ball over. With 32 minutes showing on the scoreboard, Grilled had a chance to take the lead after being awarded a penalty, but
Bhavya Panigrahi's shot was blocked by
Isidor Klangén. The referee showed Medense's
Boris Fofié the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Dimitris Germanakos looked great 34 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors'
Akara Ouk. Medense's
Emidio Ginelli was shown a yellow card after 36 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
0 - 0 was the halftime score. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Moey Xin Seng reluctantly made way for
Kalki Parvathaneni. Grilled got a penalty kick after 53 minutes, but
Bhavya Panigrahi threw himself off with a stutter step and
Isidor Klangén was able to preserve the deadlock. After 70 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Aw Keng Chuan off.
Chia Kwang Tse took his place. After 72 minutes, Medense's lack of experience resulted in the team's loss of their edge at the end of the game. A late sliding challenge from
Emidio Ginelli was deemed to be reckless, which earned him his second yellow card and left Medense down a man. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 75 minutes on the clock after
瞿 (Qu) 伟礼 (Weili)'s mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Medense player a yellow card though. The match ends 0 - 0. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Take Me To Your Lizard tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Damian Hutter seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
Isidor Klangén performed admirably for Medense. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Ferrando Reyes sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
