FC BlauRot 22 trundled out to the pitch in a 3-5-2 formation. The visitors, Grilled Birds, chose to start the game with a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled used their world class (13) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. Down the middle came
Chad Thach, making a fantastic play that nearly saw Grilled take the lead after 7 minutes, but
Bartłomiej Wilim preserved the tie. After 14 minutes, Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. A thrilling play through the middle after 26 minutes gave Grilled's
Chad Thach a chance to increase the lead, and he happily obliged. The score was then 0 - 2. Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 37 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 0 - 3. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 3. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 62 percent possession in this half was spot on!
With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Moey Xin Seng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Kalki Parvathaneni, though he would have liked to continue. 48 minutes into the game a free kick by
Bhavya Panigrahi found its way right through the home side's poorly assembled wall, making Grilled's lead 0 - 4. After 62 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for
Gandhik Chitre who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 5. One, two, three goals! That completed a hattrick for
Gandhik Chitre. AH! AH! AH! 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Aw Keng Chuan gave
Chia Kwang Tse a quick hug as he left the field. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 1 minutes as stoppage time.
Kalki Parvathaneni was, after 89 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper
Bartłomiej Wilim made the save. The match ends 0 - 5. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 63 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
Loïc Broeckx performed admirably for BlauRot. I can't remember
Kamal Al-Shahatri ever having a worse night than he just had. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Damian Hutter sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
