Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas SD Chompostela lined up in a 4-5-1. Grilled used their world class (13) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Many fans are yawning as Chompostela appears to be more enamored of using their excellent (8) pressing skills to smother the opponents' attacks rather than create attacks of their own. But all will be forgiven if it achieves a good result. After 3 minutes cheers broke out as
Moey Xin Seng found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 1 - 0 goal in off the woodwork for Grilled.
Chad Thach of Grilled received a yellow card after 17 minutes for unsportsmanlike behavior. Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre was shown a yellow card after 25 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Chompostela's talent at pressing frustrated their opponents and the fans as the game became a stalemate in the middle of the park. Chompostela's right side looked dangerous 34 minutes in, but
Dimitris Germanakos made a good save on
Albric Marie's hard shot towards the top corner. The score became 2 - 0 with 43 minutes played, when Grilled were given a penalty.
Bhavya Panigrahi made no mistake and increased the home lead. It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 61 percent possession in this half was spot on!
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Moey Xin Seng gave
Kalki Parvathaneni a quick hug as he left the field. After a play down the right 47 minutes into the match, Grilled's
Enrique Baena unleashed a ferocious shot that smashed into the roof of the net - after going over the crossbar. Grilled put themselves up 3 - 0 when
Chad Thach broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive delegation behind him. Chompostela's ability to press all over the field paid off frequently. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Aw Keng Chuan looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Chia Kwang Tse, though he would have liked to continue. At this time in the match, Chompostela were using their skill at pressing to successfully stifle the game. Chompostela pressed their opponents, causing the game to be a bit of a deadlock at times. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 3 - 0. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han. Good thing
Damian Hutter isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. Chompostela's top performer was clearly
Albric Belabbs. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Marc-Alexandre Vdrine seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
