Grilled 5 - 2 Brella
Dark skies made the crowd of 2583 at
The Cooking Pot a little nervous, but the rain held off.
Ramiro 'Fliegenfnger' Porquinho was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sander Bastiaenssen and
Vegar Reigstad. Grilled fielded:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Hutter -
Ferzan,
Thach,
Keng Chuan,
An Keng,
Baena -
Mohammad Harun,
Ze Han,
Xin Seng.
The following players took the field for Brella:
Zagato -
Lorenzani,
Girardi -
Sica,
Bodda,
Ravani,
Centrella,
Micelli -
Rigoni,
Gisondi,
Pietrasanta.
Both teams came out with a similar approach to the match, having chosen to start with a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their titanic (15) level with that tactic. Brella took the lead after 4 minutes making the score 0 - 1.
Vincenzo Centrella placed the ball out of reach for the home side's keeper after a fine move, coming in from the left. With 11 minutes having been played, Grilled scored to make it 1 - 1. A dribble down the left wing, followed by a shot which took a wicked bounce off a defender resulted in the keeper having no chance. Everyone thought it'd been an own goal, but
Chad Thach was marked down as the scorer. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Chad Thach got himself booked. The manager of Grilled was not happy. A foul after 21 minutes resulted in a free kick.
Chan Ze Han cannonballed it, giving the home team the lead 2 - 1. His teammates looked on in disbelief as an own goal by
Vincenzo Rigoni changed the tally to 3 - 1 after 33 minutes.
Aw Keng Chuan could have increased the lead after 40 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park.
Aw Keng Chuan should probably have put his team up another goal after 41 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by
Matteo Zagato kept the visitors in the game. It was 3 - 1 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 64 percent of the ball.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni came on for
Moey Xin Seng. After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Bhavya Panigrahi off the field.
Gilbert Webb took his place. Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 62 minutes, Grilled did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
Kalki Parvathaneni was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 4 - 1.
Chan Ze Han almost put Grilled ahead another goal when he curled a free kick over the defensive wall and almost into the net, but the visitors' keeper got there just in time to knock it wide.
Bilal Mohammad Harun would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Gandhik Chitre entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 75 minutes. The Brella free kick 75 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
Vincenzo Rigoni, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 4 - 2! The visitors got a chance to pull one back after 77 minutes, as the home defence went to sleep, leaving
Ezio Sica completely unmarked in the middle. His strike was pathetic though, and dribbled into the arms of the home side's keeper. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! After 89 minutes, Grilled's
Chan Ze Han found the back of the goal with a beautiful free kick. 5 - 2. The match ends 5 - 2. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 62 percent of possession.
Grilled's best player was
Aw Keng Chuan. However,
Gilbert Webb made a disastrous appearance. The most dominating Brella player was without a doubt
Giovanbattista Bodda.
Matteo Zagato on the other hand, had a terrible day.
