Downtown Wanderers fielded a 5-4-1 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3. Grilled clearly preferred using their world class (13) ability to attack in the middle today. Though it was beautiful soccer, the home crowd did not enjoy Chad Thach's goal after a run down the left with 4 minutes on the clock. Grilled lead, 0 - 1. Grilled's Enrique Baena has the innate ability to create chances out of thin air. 20 minutes in he jumped up and tried a bicycle kick, knocking the ball straight past the keeper, resulting in the 0 - 2 goal. Maybe it was because of his team's lead, or maybe it was due to the ease with which he broke down the left, but Enrique Baena was a bit too sure of his talents, so instead of taking the easy tap-in goal after 27 minutes, he went for the backheel, which he put woefully wide. Grilled's coach was furious with Chad Thach after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. The referee signaled a penalty 34 minutes into the game following a foul that was right on the line. Bhavya Panigrahi knocked it home to make the score 0 - 3. Grilled's Egemen Din�er Ferzan scored a screamer after 35 minutes, made possible by a deep pass from Damian Hutter which cut through the entire defensive line. That's 0 - 4. The visitors' Damian Hutter took advantage of a mix-up between the home side's goalie and center backs 37 minutes into the match. 0 - 5 for Grilled. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. After 39 minutes, Grilled's Chan Ze Han burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 6. It was 0 - 6 at the break. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Take Me To Your Lizard tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Moey Xin Seng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Kalki Parvathaneni, though he would have liked to continue. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. 53 minutes into the match, Chan Ze Han came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. After 62 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Egemen Din�er Ferzan who increased Grilled's lead to 0 - 7. 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Aw Keng Chuan gave Chia Kwang Tse a quick hug as he left the field. Kalki Parvathaneni came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but his attempted chip over Juha Loukkola just kept rising and landed in the relieved crowd. With 74 minutes gone, Riku Sili�maa suddenly found himself completely free on the right wing when a counter-attack by Wanderers caught their opponents by surprise. Only a great save by the opposing keeper prevented him from scoring. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's Enrique Baena finally got himself booked for a foul. Chan Ze Han was, after 89 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper Juha Loukkola made the save.
