Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas fc.tomii lined up in a 4-3-3. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their world class (13) ability to great effect. fc.tomii clearly preferred using their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle today.
Bhavya Panigrahi missed a penalty shot...but wait! The referee signaled that the keeper had come off his line too early. He didn't miss the second time, though, and Grilled took the lead in minute 17, making the score 1 - 0. The referee showed Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. fc.tomii were pushed back, and had many dangerous counter-attacks. An impressive one resulted in a free kick 34 minutes into the match, but
Christophe Laurier put it just wide. Halftime score was 1 - 0. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 56 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni came on for
Moey Xin Seng. Grilled's
Bhavya Panigrahi struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 2 - 0 after 47 minutes. Maybe
Enrique Baena should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 59 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving.
Kalki Parvathaneni increased Grilled's lead to 3 - 0, connecting with a hooked ball from the right. The away fans are claiming handball, to no avail. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 63 minutes on the clock after
Kalki Parvathaneni's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Grilled player a yellow card though. With the clock showing 70 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Aw Keng Chuan looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Chia Kwang Tse, though he would have liked to continue. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 1 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 3 - 0. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 56 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Bhavya Panigrahi sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. The most outstanding fc.tomii player was without a doubt
Strahinja Arambašić. Good thing
İdris Sayıner isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
