Tonners 6 - 2 Grilled

A scorching day at HEBFC Tonners FC Arena, where 55480 spectators were in place for today's match. Cornel Bielmann was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Tomislav Spasojević and Ireneusz Komajda. It was a sunny day and the technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The following players took the field: Migliozzi - Verslype, Fonte Silva, Ejsak - Mazo Calvo, Siong Eng, Hariry, Teja, Balkovič - An Soon, Tse Kok.

They fielded: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Hutter - Ferzan, Thach, Keng Chuan, An Keng, Baena - Mohammad Harun, Ze Han, Xin Seng.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Grilled used their supernatural (14) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Andrea Migliozzi looked great 12 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors' Bilal Mohammad Harun. With 23 minutes gone, the home side took a 1 - 0 lead as Yong Siong Eng raced down the right flank and casually flipped the ball into the net after a searing cross from the far side of the pitch. Everyone had expected a shot from the free kick 24 minutes into the game, but Grilled sent the ball sideways instead, giving Aw Keng Chuan a clear look at goal with no wall in his way. He sent it through the keeper's legs for 1 - 1! The visitors grabbed the lead after Chan Ze Han's successful free kick, resulting in a score of 1 - 2. With 34 minutes played, Tonners's Tan Tse Kok received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. Tan Tse Kok tipped the corner kick right to the keeper, who mishandled it, giving Tonners's Mats Verslype a chance to knock it in for 2 - 2. The home side put themselves ahead 3 - 2 after 41 minutes of hard work with a breakthrough from Michal Balkovič, who, all by his lonesome, came out of the right wing and hooked the ball over the visitors' keeper. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach. The visitors almost came back with an equalizer 42 minutes into the match after a good combination down the middle, but Egemen Dinçer Ferzan didn't get enough power behind the attempted finish to seriously challenge the keeper. 3 - 2 was the halftime score. Neither team was controlling possession at this point in the match.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Moey Xin Seng gave Kalki Parvathaneni a quick hug as he left the field. Tonners solidified their lead at the 49 minute mark, as Yong Siong Eng snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 4 - 2. 56 minutes in, Lim An Keng made an incredible run up the middle and nearly reduced the home side's lead, but Andrea Migliozzi refused to let the ball slip by him. 59 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Tan Tse Kok ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 5 - 2 for Tonners. With the clock showing 60 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Bhavya Panigrahi looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Gilbert Webb, though he would have liked to continue. 65 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Tonners substitution. Eliot Frankenfeld came on for Andrea Migliozzi. The Tonners captaincy was handed to Carlos Fonte Silva. With 68 minutes played, Bilal Mohammad Harun had a fantastic opportunity to reply but his shot from the middle nicked the post and went out. After 75 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Bilal Mohammad Harun off. Gandhik Chitre took his place. Cheers filled the stadium as Balasubramanian Teja broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 6 - 2 goal for Tonners. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 2 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 6 - 2. Well, look at this! Cardi B is on the Enormotron in naught but giant sunglasses and a Take Me To Your Lizard tank top. I've not seen anything like it before. Most important Tonners player was Tan Tse Kok. Good thing Eliot Frankenfeld isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Chan Ze Han. I can't remember Gilbert Webb ever having a worse night than he just had.
