It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-4-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Using their divine (+5) (25) skill, Mayuyu pushed their attacks towards the wings. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their titanic (15) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. The visitors' central defense should have had no trouble clearing the pass to
Gilbert Stepp, but the Mayuyu player managed to shrug them off and fire a low shot that 5-holed the keeper to give his team the lead. 1 - 0! Mayuyu's
Jurica Prusina scored a screamer after 27 minutes, made possible by a deep pass from
Luis Bique which cut through the entire defensive line. That's 2 - 0. The crowd roared its approval when
Philip Boestlinger somehow managed to block what seemed to be a certain goal by Grilled's
Chan Ze Han 33 minutes into the match. 2 - 0 was the halftime score. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 63 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Moey Xin Seng gave
Kalki Parvathaneni a quick hug as he left the field. With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Chad Thach looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Mohd Marzuki Khairul, though he would have liked to continue. Mayuyu's
Luis Bique struck his penalty well enough to beat the goalkeeper and extend the home team's lead to 3 - 0 after 55 minutes. The clock read 65 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as Mayuyu scored another to make it 4 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
Joonas Ahola. Grilled came close to narrowing the gap when
Chan Ze Han's free kick nearly made it past the outstretched
Philip Boestlinger after 72 minutes. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Damian Hutter off.
Gilbert Webb took his place. After 80 minutes, the defensive line of Mayuyu created a counter-attack through the middle that gave
Antonio Olivieri a good look at goal, but his shot glanced harmlessly off the crossbar. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 84 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving
Chan Ze Han completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, rolling slowly to the home side's keeper. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 1 minutes as stoppage time. Given a free kick in a difficult position after 89 minutes, Mayuyu tried a variation that they had practiced in training. The kick was sent into the area just in front of the keeper, however, the defense were on their toes and allowed no space for a finish. The match ends 4 - 0. Now to our celebrity commentator for a hot take. Over to you, Snoop! The most outstanding Mayuyu player was without a doubt
Lucas Wauquier. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Luis Bique today. Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. Good thing
Gilbert Webb isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
