Grilled 2 - 1 Mayuyu
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 38561 to
The Cooking Pot.
Csar Augusto Angeloni was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Ward Macron and
Manuel Guimares. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. Grilled's lineup was:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Hutter -
Ferzan,
Thach,
Khairul,
An Keng,
Baena -
Mohammad Harun,
Ze Han,
Parvathaneni.
Mayuyu's starters:
Boestlinger -
Ekborn,
Ravarotto,
Kefaln,
Burboa -
Stepp,
Wauquier,
Ahola,
Olivieri -
Prusina,
Inczdi.
Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Mayuyu AKB48 lined up in a 4-4-2 formation. Grilled clearly preferred using their extra-terrestrial (16) ability to attack in the middle. It was an obvious ambition of Mayuyu to use their divine (+3) (23) ability at attacking on the flanks. 3 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good cross from the right found
Enrique Baena alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post.
Enrique Baena caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 6 minutes. This gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Kalki Parvathaneni from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 9 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Mayuyu were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings.
Jurica Prusina finished off the counterattack of Mayuyu from the left rather easily, making the score 1 - 1. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for
Mohd Marzuki Khairul to score after 22 minutes, but the shot hit the crossbar. 1 - 1 was the score after the first half. Grilled had most of the ball, with 68 percent of possession.
Chad Thach would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Chia Kwang Tse entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. After several obvious shirt pulling incidents,
Chia Kwang Tse got himself booked. The manager of Grilled was not happy. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Moey Xin Seng came on for
Bilal Mohammad Harun. After a fine move down the middle
Chia Kwang Tse nearly gave the home side a goal after 70 minutes. However the finishing shot went just wide. Mayuyu's
Antonio Olivieri set up a perfect opportunity for
Hunor Inczdi, but the latter failed to score. After 77 minutes,
Mohd Marzuki Khairul came in from the right, feinted, then sped past the off-balance defender to make the score 2 - 1, giving Grilled the lead. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bhavya Panigrahi gave
Gilbert Webb a quick hug as he left the field. With
Bhavya Panigrahi no longer on the pitch,
Chan Ze Han became the new set pieces taker. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up centrally.
Chan Ze Han had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 81 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 1 minute beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 2 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 67 percent.
Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han.
Gilbert Webb on the other hand, had a terrible day. Mayuyu's top performer was clearly
Lucas Wauquier.
Anders Ekborn was a disappointment, however.
