Oceans 0 - 6 Grilled
12000 punters turned up at
Ocean's 1q Arena, and despite threatening clouds on the horizon, no rain came.
Jordi Ramon Altimis was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Alexis Kavouratos and
Miloš Stojanović. Oceans's starters:
Lee -
Han Kian,
Tze Kuan,
Pin Feng -
Hashim,
Dasari,
Hirata,
Bhupathi -
Wan,
Shasthri,
Min Ze.
The following players had been chosen by Grilled:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Hutter -
Ferzan,
Thach,
Keng Chuan,
An Keng,
Baena -
Xin Seng,
Ze Han,
Parvathaneni.
Ocean's 1q fielded a 3-4-3 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was 2-5-3. Grilled took a supernatural (14) creative approach on the field. After 2 minutes, Grilled's
Chan Ze Han made his way through the middle and nonchalantly placed the ball out of the keeper's reach, putting the visitors up 0 - 1. The referee showed Grilled's
Bhavya Panigrahi the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Despite hurting his left foot at the 3 minute mark,
Prakash Dasari decided to keep playing. After 7 minutes,
Kalki Parvathaneni sprinted between the opposing defenders and squared the ball, but the keeper deflected
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan's shot. The visitors added to their lead 8 minutes into the game, after a sensational penalty kick by Grilled's
Bhavya Panigrahi slid just past the home keeper. 0 - 2.
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan went down after twisting his left ankle in minute 13, but was able to continue the match none the less. After 32 minutes, a mistake by the home side's left defence allowed
Kalki Parvathaneni to get through. He outclassed the home side's keeper, adding another goal for the visitors. 0 - 3. Some fine movement on the left led to a Grilled goal after 34 minutes, making it 0 - 4.
Chan Ze Han was noted down as the scorer. The Grilled free kick 34 minutes into the match seemed wasted, as the shot was both short and off target. But was this actually a plan? The ball landed at the feet of
Lim An Keng, who was completely unmarked in the box. That's 0 - 5! 0 - 5 was the score after the first half. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 72 percent.
46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Chia Kwang Tse came on for
Chad Thach.
Jeff Lee got a fingertip on
Aw Keng Chuan's shot from the left 66 minutes in, and managed to keep the visitors from going up another goal. The referee signalled a penalty 71 minutes into the game following an offence which looked like it was outside the box.
Bhavya Panigrahi knocked it home to make the score 0 - 6.
Enrique Baena was, after 78 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
Jeff Lee made the save. After 80 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Bhavya Panigrahi off the field.
Gilbert Webb took his place.
Bhavya Panigrahi was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that
Chan Ze Han got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Moey Xin Seng reluctantly made way for
Bilal Mohammad Harun on the pitch. The Grilled captaincy was handed to
Chan Ze Han.
Thong Tze Kuan looked to be heading one way when he unexpectedly passed the ball to
Maheswaran Shasthri. The move caught everyone off-guard, including his teammate, who panicked and kicked the ball out of play by accident. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
Lim An Keng after 82 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 0 - 6. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 72 percent of the time.
Jonny Wan performed admirably for Oceans.
Thong Tze Kuan turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han. However,
Bilal Mohammad Harun made a disastrous appearance.
