It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle. The home side put themselves ahead 1 - 0 after 20 minutes of hard work with a breakthrough from
Federico Cotugno, who, all by his lonesome, came out of the right wing and hooked the ball over the visitors' keeper. A wonderful trick by
Gandhik Chitre after 24 minutes left
Dustin Eigenrauch bewildered and really deserved to end in a goal but the keeper made a fine save. The keeper's save on
Bhavya Panigrahi's penalty was not only wonderful to watch, but was important too, as it prevented the away side from drawing level after 25 minutes. After 30 minutes, Endstation raised their score by one when
Giuseppe Menger's dangerous low cross was cleverly tucked in at the near post by
Frans Gustavsson. 2 - 0. 31 minutes had passed when Endstation put themselves up 3 - 0 after the visiting defenders lost the ball to
Cris Lula, who came up from the left and proceeded to easily go around the goalkeeper and knock the ball home. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's
Aw Keng Chuan finally got himself booked for a foul. Things were going from bad to worse for the visitors.
Federico Cotugno was able to squirm through the central defense after 39 minutes and score, bringing the lead to 4 - 0. It was 4 - 0 at the break. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 52 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni reluctantly made way for
Chia Kwang Tse. After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Bilal Mohammad Harun off.
Chad Thach took his place. 52 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as
Anton Weberstetter ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 5 - 0 for Endstation. 60 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Moey Xin Seng gave
Teo Chuan Yong a quick hug as he left the field.
Federico Cotugno's Road Runneresque speed was too much for
Bhavya Panigrahi, who could only look on as the Endstation player blasted one home. 6 - 0. At that,
Federico Cotugno was noted down for a hattrick! Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Grilled's
Chad Thach was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 77 minutes. With 78 minutes played, Endstation's
Anton Weberstetter received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. 89 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Endstation substitution.
Radu Pescăruş came on for
Frans Gustavsson. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 beyond the regular 90 minutes. Unsportsmanlike behavior by
Chad Thach earned him his second booking of the match, and Grilled had to finish the game with a reduced squad. The match ends 6 - 0. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 53 percent of possession.
Radu Pescăruş performed admirably for Endstation. I can't remember
Rüdiger Speck-Braun ever having a worse night than he just had. Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Paulino Trindade sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
