Grilled 3 - 0 Bebriukai
The spectators at the stadium today were in for an afternoon of sunshine. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The following players had been selected:

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Bebriukai lined up in a 5-4-1. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their mythical (17) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Using their outstanding (10) counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Bebriukai today. Grilled fans held their breath as
Paulino Trindade gallivanted down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and fired home the go-ahead goal for 1 - 0! Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defense were able to clear the ball. Bebriukai's
Mariusz Kos was shown a yellow card after 19 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates 24 minutes in. After 33 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Paulino Trindade might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Ken Kramer made a spectacular save. After 34 minutes Bebriukai tried to use their counter-attacking skills. Unfortunately,
Maksimilijanas Apukas's shot sailed wide after his break down the right. It was 1 - 0 at the break. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 80 percent of possession.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni reluctantly made way for
Chia Kwang Tse. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bilal Mohammad Harun gave
Chad Thach a quick hug as he left the field. Grilled managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when
Chan Ze Han slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. With the clock showing 60 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Moey Xin Seng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Teo Chuan Yong, though he would have liked to continue.
Paulino Trindade had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 70 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar.
Chad Thach saw that the keeper was out and shot from an incredible distance 75 minutes in. Unfortunately for Grilled, the ball skimmed the crossbar and went over. A counter-attack by Bebriukai after 76 minutes could have resulted in a goal, but
Gracijus Jareckas, coming in on the left, waited too long to shoot. Coming in from the right,
Teo Chuan Yong almost managed to score another goal for Grilled, but his header was kept out by the lightning fast reflexes of the visiting keeper. Bebriukai were pushed back, and had many dangerous counter-attacks. An impressive one resulted in a free kick 78 minutes into the match, but
Fedosėjus Gliebus put it just wide. Maybe
Chad Thach should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 84 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving.
Chia Kwang Tse will have Excedrin Headache number 5 after heading home the hard corner kick from
Bhavya Panigrahi after 85 minutes of play. I'm sure that making the score 3 - 0 will assuage him a bit, though. 86 minutes in Grilled probably could have turned their free kick into a shot, but went for a cross instead. Unfortunately,
Damian Hutter jumped too late and the ball was redirected out for a goal kick. The fourth official announced that there would be 1 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 3 - 0. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 81 percent possession of the ball.
Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Paulino Trindade seemed to stumble all over the pitch. Bebriukai's top performer was clearly
Yann Hobi. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Jeff Isaacson sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
