It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 5-4-1 formation while the visitors instead opted for a 2-5-3. Like the adage Grilled clearly preferred using their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle today. Uchinanchus showed their counter-attacking skill 27 minutes into the match by breaking through the middle, with
Sidnei Shoburyu scoring an easy goal for 1 - 0. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. The goal to make it 2 - 0 was scored by
和明 (Kazuaki) 相羽 (Aiba) with 40 minutes on the clock, following an opportunistic counter-attack down the middle by Uchinanchus. It was 2 - 0 at the break. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 80 percent possession of the ball.
With the clock showing 46 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Kalki Parvathaneni looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Chia Kwang Tse, though he would have liked to continue. As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Bilal Mohammad Harun reluctantly made way for
Chad Thach.
Badeco Ginko stunned the crowd with a brilliant counter-attack from the left, giving Uchinanchus the goal to make it 3 - 0. Uchinanchus's
浩平 (Kohei) 豊島 (Teshima) wanted to play on, but after 53 minutes the decision was made to give
Silvão Nakano a chance in his place.
浩平 (Kohei) 豊島 (Teshima) was coming off, and had taken his last free kick for the day. That meant
和明 (Kazuaki) 相羽 (Aiba) got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. The Uchinanchus players could smell victory in the air.
勇樹 (Yuki) 岡本 (Okamoto) wasn't in a hurry to leave the field as he was substituted for
Pongpan Boriban after 53 minutes. After 60 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Moey Xin Seng off.
Teo Chuan Yong took his place. Uchinanchus had a great opportunity to score following a counter-attack after 63 minutes, but
和明 (Kazuaki) 相羽 (Aiba)'s shot from the left sailed high over the bar. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Grilled's
Teo Chuan Yong finally got himself booked for a foul. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 68 minutes on the clock after
Pongpan Boriban's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Uchinanchus player a yellow card though. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 3 - 0. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 81 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
The most outstanding Uchinanchus player was without a doubt
和明 (Kazuaki) 相羽 (Aiba). I can't remember
輝久 (Teruhisa) 亀井 (Kamei) ever having a worse night than he just had. Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han. Speaking of stinking up the place,
Paulino Trindade sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham.
