Grilled 3 - 1 Pataliebre
The crowd of 2753 turning up at
The Cooking Pot today were greeted with some nasty showers of rain.
Klausdieter Pertschy was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Matthias Kropfhammer and
Eerikki Manninen. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. Grilled fielded:
Germanakos -
Mangoye,
Keng Chuan -
Teck Fu,
Thach,
Chitre,
Kwang Tse,
Trindade -
Jian Hui,
Velho,
Ze Han.
Pataliebre's starters:
Rosado -
Maceda,
Redondo,
Nbrega -
van Huut,
Brcena,
Brizuela,
Zsivtzky,
Ariciu -
Chvez,
Mercado.
Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Pataliebre & Vacahierro, chose to start the game with a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled showed off their outstanding (10) creative tactics. Grilled's
Chad Thach has the wonderful ability to create chances out of thin air. 9 minutes into the match he bamboozled a couple of opposition defenders before sending the keeper the wrong way and sidefooting the ball home into an empty net. That totally unexpected burst of flair made it 1 - 0. A great save by keeper
Hernn Rosado after 10 minutes kept the visitors in the game after
Paulino Trindade struck from the left with a real cannonball. Grilled's
Yee Jian Hui swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defence were able to clear the ball.
Gandhik Chitre had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 14 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Yee Jian Hui from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 16 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 29 minutes, the visitors levelled the scores after
Alberto Brizuela made it through the middle and struck home to make it 1 - 1.
Gandhik Chitre gave Grilled the lead as he successfully challenged the guests' central defenders, then slotted the ball into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance. 2 - 1 2 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 62 percent of the ball.
Chad Thach would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 46 minutes. Encouraged by their lead, after 46 minutes the Grilled coach asked
Hwang Teck Fu to change positions with
Gandhik Chitre. 46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Atang Mangoye gave
Bilal Mohammad Harun a quick hug as he left the field.
Martin Zsivtzky made a good effort at breaking through on the right, but the home team's left defence cleared the ball to a corner. Pataliebre's
Feliciano Mercado got himself booked for a foul. Pataliebre's
Henk Jan van Huut hurt his back 74 minutes into the match, and had to be convinced by the medical team that it was safer not to continue the match. This gave
Jos Guadalupe Del Campo a chance to take to the field instead.
Chia Kwang Tse should probably have put his team up another goal after 76 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by
Hernn Rosado kept the visitors in the game. It was a fine day for
Jos Guadalupe Del Campo on his wing, his cross pass to
Bernardino 'Pelusa' Chvez was especially delicate 78 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. After 79 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Hwang Teck Fu might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Hernn Rosado made a spectacular save.
Jos Luiz Velho increased Grilled's lead to 3 - 1 with a penalty spot cannonball.
Yee Jian Hui almost seemed to dance around
Hernn Nbrega, his movements were so smooth. Unfortunately for Grilled, his finish ended up on the wrong side of the post. The referee showed Grilled's
Jos Luiz Velho the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. Grilled's
Paulino Trindade saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 91 minutes. The match ends 3 - 1. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 65 percent of possession.
The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han.
Gandhik Chitre on the other hand, had a terrible day. Pataliebre's best player was
Bernardino 'Pelusa' Chvez. However,
Jos Guadalupe Del Campo made a disastrous appearance.
