Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Unìon Italiana, chose to start the game with a 4-5-1 lineup. It wasn't a pretty goal, but the free kick by
José Luiz Velho after 4 minutes somehow found its way past the keeper. Grilled takes the lead, 1 - 0! With 25 minutes played,
José Luiz Velho could have brought this one home for Grilled as he charged up on the left, but his hooked ball went just a bit too high.
Hwang Teck Fu could have put Grilled up one more, but he fired into the side netting after breaking free on the left after 27 minutes. With 33 minutes played,
Yasser Al-Khalidi of UnIta fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee was unimpressed, and booked him for diving.
Aw Keng Chuan's lack of experience almost gave UnIta a goal after 36 minutes, but the shot went right into the keeper's arms. UnIta's right side looked dangerous 38 minutes in, but
Manuel Vadalà made a good save on
Roberto Marshall's hard shot to the top corner. Things were deteriorating for the away team as Grilled scored another to make it 2 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
Yee Jian Hui after 39 minutes. The teams went for the halftime break at 2 - 0. Grilled had most of the ball, with 57 percent of possession.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Chad Thach off the field.
Chia Kwang Tse took his place. Encouraged by their lead, after 46 minutes the Grilled coach asked
Hwang Teck Fu to change positions with
Gandhik Chitre. 46 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Bilal Mohammad Harun came on for
José Luiz Velho. As
José Luiz Velho exited the field,
Bilal Mohammad Harun volunteered to be the new set pieces taker. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Aden Yousif from UnIta a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 68 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Grilled's
Atang Mangoye took a knock to the head after 69 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He looked wobbly for a second, but eventually just laughed it off and continued playing. 75 minutes into the match, UnIta replied and reduced the lead to 2 - 1.
包 (Bao) 才扬 (Caiyang) scored on a marvellous cross pass coming in from the left. UnIta's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
Badreddine El-Araïchi to score easily from the right flank for 2 - 2. Many thought
Egemen Dinçer Ferzan ought to have been awarded a penalty 79 minutes into the game, as he went down trying to dribble around
Pancrazio Minieri after a determined run through the middle. The referee announced 3 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. After the regular 93 minutes, the agony of extra time followed. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 58 percent of the ball.
UnIta's
Badreddine El-Araïchi got himself booked for a foul. Grilled took the lead, 3 - 2, after a penalty 99 minutes into the match.
Bilal Mohammad Harun scored from the penalty spot.
Bilal Mohammad Harun increased Grilled's lead to 4 - 2 with a penalty spot cannonball. The visitors' right side was dangerous today;
Roberto Marshall made the home team's keeper look foolish as he easily scored to reduce the lead to 4 - 3 102 minutes into the match. The match ends 4 - 3. Most important Grilled player was
Bilal Mohammad Harun. On the other hand,
Radovan Jaška's play was disheartening. UnIta's best player was
Roberto Marshall.
Pancrazio Minieri turned in a dismal performance, however.
