Grilled 2 - 4 Mayuyu
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 53428 to
The Cooking Pot.
Nicols Galiquio was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Marian Wawulski and
Ovidiu Petrovan. The weather was sunny, which meant perfect conditions for technical players in both teams. However, it was also quite warm, which meant quick or physically strong players were drained faster and couldn't play their best game. Grilled's starters:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Hutter -
Baena,
Thach,
Keng Chuan,
An Keng,
Ferzan -
Chuan Yong,
Xin Seng,
Parvathaneni.
The following players had been chosen by Mayuyu:
Boestlinger -
Burboa,
Tzm,
Kefaln,
Ekborn -
Ravarotto,
Wauquier,
Ahola,
Olivieri -
Prusina,
Inczdi.
It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 4-4-2. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their supernatural (14) level with that tactic. It was an obvious ambition of Mayuyu to use their divine (+5) (25) ability at attacking on the flanks. 6 minutes in, Grilled's
Teo Chuan Yong received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first.
Gerardo Ravarotto was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
Antonio Olivieri seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. Mayuyu were determined to attack on the wing and their central attempts were constantly abandoned in favour of the wings. The terraces were silenced after 19 minutes when Mayuyu's
Anders Ekborn put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right.
Aw Keng Chuan was ever so close to scoring after an excellent corner was beautifully flicked on by
Enrique Baena, but the ball bounced off the post to safety. Grilled put pressure on the visitors' central defence 29 minutes into the game, but
Enrique Baena couldn't find an opening.
Moey Xin Seng showed the skills that make him a real crowd pleaser as he, after 30 minutes, wove through the guests' entire central defence and put the 1 - 1 equaliser away. 1 - 1 was the halftime score. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 64 percent of the ball.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Lim An Keng reluctantly made way for
Chia Kwang Tse on the pitch. Mayuyu's
Jurica Prusina managed to lose the defenders as he advanced down the right wing and scored, putting the visitors ahead after 52 minutes. 1 - 2. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Bilal Mohammad Harun came on for
Moey Xin Seng.
Bilal Mohammad Harun became the new Grilled captain. After 63 minutes,
Teo Chuan Yong made a dash down the middle past the away team's defenders to score the goal that made it 2 - 2. 80 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Kalki Parvathaneni gave
Chan Ze Han a quick hug as he left the field. Mayuyu's counterattacks were lethal to the opposing defence, allowing
Gerardo Ravarotto to score easily from the right flank for 2 - 3. Mayuyu increased their lead after 82 minutes when
Lucas Wauquier broke through on the right, upping the score to 2 - 4, much to the home crowd's dismay. The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
Teo Chuan Yong tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
Philip Boestlinger was too alert for that! The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The match ends 2 - 4. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 64 percent.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han.
Teo Chuan Yong was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Mayuyu player was without a doubt
Gerardo Ravarotto.
Anders Ekborn on the other hand, had a terrible day.
