Winnetou 1 - 3 Grilled
33153 spectators arrived at
Winnetou Reborn Arena, where weather conditions were pretty good for football.
Matteo Martelli was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Attila Rába and
Nayan Qacha. Winnetou fielded:
Křovina -
Gladilov,
Nieva -
Cockman,
Sá,
Monteverde,
Di Brandimarte,
Blackman -
Pak,
Xin Jun,
Joo.
Grilled's lineup was:
Germanakos -
Panigrahi,
Webb -
Baena,
Thach,
Keng Chuan,
An Keng,
Trindade -
Ze Han,
Chitre,
Parvathaneni.
The teams both lined up their players in 2-5-3 formations. This was a good period for the visitors, with several opportunities to take the lead, particularly when
Chan Ze Han slipped through the defence on the right to come up alone against
Martin Křovina, but the home side's keeper showed his lightning reflexes.
Chuck Pak of Winnetou was booked for kicking the ball away after the whistle. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Peh Xin Jun from Winnetou a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 21 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient!
Gilbert Webb went down after twisting his left ankle after 21 minutes, and had to leave the pitch. The player that took his place was
Bilal Mohammad Harun. Winnetou fans held their breath as
Victor Blackman scampered down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and cracked home the shot for 1 - 0! Grilled made it 1 - 1 as
Bilal Mohammad Harun got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to
Chan Ze Han who whipped a low drive in off the far post.
Fabio Di Brandimarte of Winnetou received a yellow card after 38 minutes for unsportsmanlike behaviour. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 61 percent of the time.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Chad Thach reluctantly made way for
Chia Kwang Tse on the pitch. Grilled took the lead 64 minutes into the game, making the score 1 - 2 after some elegant movement down the middle.
Kalki Parvathaneni was the scorer. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution.
Moey Xin Seng came on for
Kalki Parvathaneni. Grilled came close to extending their lead as
Bhavya Panigrahi delivered a low effort on goal from the right after 72 minutes, but the angle was too narrow and the shot went harmlessly into the side netting. Winnetou's
Adrian Joo was shown a yellow card after 73 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Grilled's
Bilal Mohammad Harun hurt his back 73 minutes into the match, and had to be convinced by the medical team that it was safer not to continue the match. It was a critical moment for the team, as there were no substitutes on the bench for the injured player. After 74 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Moey Xin Seng a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 4 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Grilled's
Chan Ze Han placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but
Chia Kwang Tse couldn't finish.
Chia Kwang Tse came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle. He tried to lift the ball over
Martin Křovina but overcooked it and hit the bar instead.
Chan Ze Han went down in terrible pain, clutching his right ankle. He could not continue playing and had to be carried off on a stretcher after 91 minutes. The coach had his head in his hands, as he realised he could not send a replacement onto the pitch. The team had to continue a man short. The Grilled captaincy was handed to
Moey Xin Seng. The match ends 1 - 3. Grilled had most of the ball, with 59 percent of possession.
Winnetou's top performer was clearly
Artur Sá.
Evgeniy Gladilov turned in a dismal performance, however. Grilled's best player was
Moey Xin Seng.
Enrique Baena on the other hand, had a terrible day.
