Grilled 1 - 3 Paris

Weather conditions were pretty good for football today. The following players had been selected: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Webb - Baena, Mohammad Harun, Keng Chuan, Parvathaneni, Trindade - Ze Han, Xin Seng, Chitre.

The following players took the field: Pedicord - Tessier, Stoica, Rapajić, Lucas Pereira - Martin, Olsen, Boix, Teghil, Bonhoure - Shutovski.

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Grognards de Paris lined up in a 4-5-1. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their mythical (17) ability to great effect. 3 minutes had elapsed when a great chance for Grilled to take the lead after a good ball from the right found Enrique Baena alone with the keeper, but he chipped it to the wrong side of the post. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. Paulino Trindade is making an astonishing dash. The fans are chanting his name. You can hear it reverberate around the stadium. Now a manic sprint up the middle and into the box. Oh! He's thrown open the door! He's thrown open the door, shot the ball through, and slammed the door shut on Mr. Tumnus! Grilled has taken the lead 14 minutes into the match, 1 to 0. There'll be no Turkish Delight after the match for the keeper! Benoît 'L'éclair' Martin made a run for the goal 19 minutes into the game but the home team's left side was too well defended and the attack fizzled out. Coming through the middle Baptiste Bonhoure almost scored the equalizer for Paris after 20 minutes, but Dimitris Germanakos made an excellent save, tipping the awkward swerving shot past the post. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 53 percent possession of the ball.

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Kalki Parvathaneni gave Lim An Keng a quick hug as he left the field. Walther Olsen finished off a quick charge from the left of the field by chipping the ball just over the home side's keeper, making the score 1 - 1 59 minutes into the game. The coach of Paris wanted to try to mix things up after 69 minutes, and gave new tactical instructions. With 70 minutes played, Paris's Toshe 'Le chasseur' Shutovski received a yellow card for challenging a play with his cleats first. With 71 minutes played, Moey Xin Seng came in from the right with the intention of giving Grilled the lead, but his rocket of a shot could only rattle the crossbar. 75 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Teo Chuan Yong came on for Moey Xin Seng. The bleachers were silenced after 77 minutes when Paris's Baptiste Bonhoure put the guests ahead 1 - 2, following an attack on the right. With the clock showing 79 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Walther Olsen looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Glen 'La tour' Guinel, though he would have liked to continue. Maybe it was because of his team's lead, or maybe it was due to the ease with which he broke down the left, but Toshe 'Le chasseur' Shutovski was a bit too sure of his talents, so instead of taking the easy tap-in goal after 79 minutes, he went for the backheel, which he put woefully wide. The fourth official announced that there would be 1 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Feeling like a boy about to meet his girlfriend's father for the first time, the inexperienced Paris struggled to maintain their level of play after 89 minutes. Graziano Teghil increased the visitors' lead by volleying in a pass from the right. 1 - 3. The match ends 1 - 3. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 52 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. I can't remember Enrique Baena ever having a worse night than he just had. Graziano Teghil performed admirably for Paris. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Glen 'La tour' Guinel seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
