Grilled 1 - 4 Liverpool

We had overcast weather free of rain at the stadium today. The following players took the field: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Webb - Baena, Mohammad Harun, Keng Chuan, Parvathaneni, Trindade - Ze Han, Xin Seng, Chitre.

Lineup: Tither - Stevens, Lynch, Osman, Ramsden - Cotterell, Gulraiz, Brewster, Williams, Grafton - Hanlon.

Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Czech Liverpool, the formation of choice was a 4-5-1. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle. A outstanding (10) level of counter-attacking seemed to be the preferred strategy of Liverpool. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. After 11 minutes cheers broke out as Chan Ze Han found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 1 - 0 goal in off the woodwork for Grilled. Liverpool made it 1 - 1 as Rob Stevens knocked the corner kick to Jamshed Gulraiz who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Gotta love friendly woodwork! It was obvious that Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle when they directed a break on the wing into the center of the park. Many thought Chan Ze Han ought to have been awarded a penalty 24 minutes into the match, as he went down trying to beat Alton Tither after an attack through the middle gave him the one-on-one opportunity. With 25 minutes gone, a long pass from the defense of Liverpool resulted in a counter-attack that set Shaun Brewster free through the middle, but the keeper made a spectacular diving save. Always quick and a menace to his opponents, Kalki Parvathaneni got through after 26 minutes, but the keeper deflected his shot and a defender took care of the rebound. Some great play up the middle by Grilled led to a chance for Enrique Baena to get the go-ahead goal with 27 minutes played, but the shot hit the crossbar. Liverpool made a good counter-attacking move down the left 28 minutes into the game, and Rob Stevens finished well for 1 - 2. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 66 percent possession of the ball.

46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Lim An Keng came on for Kalki Parvathaneni. 57 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as Jamshed Gulraiz finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular bicycle kick. A particularly graphic suggestion to the referee describing what he could do with his turkey giblets led to a straight red card for Bruno Lynch. The game had been going for 72 minutes when Tom Osman broke through on the right, upping the score to 1 - 4 for Liverpool, much to the home crowd's dismay. With the clock showing 75 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Moey Xin Seng looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Teo Chuan Yong, though he would have liked to continue. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. The match ends 1 - 4. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 63 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Grilled's top performer was clearly Chan Ze Han. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Bhavya Panigrahi today. The most outstanding Liverpool player was without a doubt Alton Tither. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because Shaun Brewster seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
