43v3r 5 - 2 Grilled

Overcast weather free of rain made for a crowd turnout of 2518 at 43v3r Homeland today. Nariman Zanjirbafan was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Wolf Stollberg and Claude Peloux. The following players took the field for 43v3r: Erdoş - Cabral, Brandstrup - Gibson, van Marken, Salabert, Taisacan, Detavernier - Olmos Ribera, Kaczmarski, Javali.

The following players had been chosen by Grilled: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Webb - Trindade, An Keng, Keng Chuan, Khairul, Baena - Ze Han, Mohammad Harun, Xin Seng.

As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. Grilled clearly preferred using their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle. Noel Olmos Ribera caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 3 minutes. This gave 43v3r the 1 - 0 lead. 43v3r solidified their lead at the 22 minute mark, as Gerko van Marken dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. Grilled's Gilbert Webb placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but Paulino Trindade couldn't finish. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Marcin Kaczmarski squirmed through their central defence after 32 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. Grilled made it 3 - 1 as Chan Ze Han got a touch to the floated corner kick and flicked the ball to Bilal Mohammad Harun who whipped a low drive in off the far post. Marcin Kaczmarski could have increased the lead after 40 minutes, but his shot hit the post after a nice combination in the middle of the park. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 1. Possession in this half belonged to 43v3r, who controlled the ball 55 percent of the time.

Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their player Moey Xin Seng reduced the lead to make it 3 - 2 after 61 minutes, following a pass from the right. 73 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Noel Olmos Ribera broke through, making the score 4 - 2 for 43v3r. After 74 minutes, Vishnu Javali strained his groin quite severely and had to be helped off the field by the physio. Peh Feng Feng tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. As Vishnu Javali left the field, the coach signaled to Marcin Kaczmarski to be the new set pieces taker. Cheers filled the stadium as Lars Detavernier broke through the visitors' central defence to put away the ball to increase the lead to 5 - 2 to 43v3r. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Moey Xin Seng reluctantly made way for Kalki Parvathaneni on the pitch. The Grilled captaincy was handed to Chan Ze Han. Bilal Mohammad Harun would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Gandhik Chitre entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 88 minutes. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 3 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. A great save by keeper Dimitris Germanakos after 90 minutes kept the visitors in the game after Noel Olmos Ribera struck from the left with a real cannonball. The match ends 5 - 2. 43v3r claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 58 percent.

Gerko van Marken performed admirably for 43v3r. However, Eduard Erdoş made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. Paulino Trindade was a disappointment, however.
