Due to an all-day shower, 39085 paying spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog at Tarpots Rec.. Mattias Lifsten was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Ignasi Cucarella and Niek Surmont. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 3-5-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 2-5-3. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their mythical (17) level with that tactic. Grilled had several good opportunities to take the lead, especially 10 minutes in when Lim An Keng came up alone against Alecsandru Antal who managed a block. 0 - 1 was the score with 21 minutes played, after Lim An Keng cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. The bicycle kick from Enrique Baena would have been the Goal of the Year for Grilled, had it not hit the post. Lim An Keng dispatched a majestic long shot 31 minutes into the match, but missed the goal by a few metres. Bilal Mohammad Harun was the first to reach the corner kick, but his header was blocked by the keeper. However, Grilled's Chan Ze Han managed to get hold of the rebound and tucked the ball into the empty net. 0 - 2 36 minutes in, Benfleet's Fernand Coudyzer received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. Almost all the way down to the corner flag, Benfleet's Claudio Anselmo somehow managed to get a perfect pass into the middle, impossible to miss for Albert Sobeski, who struck for 1 - 2. 39 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 1 - 3 as Aw Keng Chuan finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. 1 - 3 was the halftime score. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 51 percent of possession.

With 48 minutes played, Mohd Marzuki Khairul nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. Benfleet's Wan Kwang Ting got the home crowd going when he finished off a left wing charge, reducing the away team's lead to 2 - 3. Alecsandru Antal kept the home side in the game with a magnificent save when Bhavya Panigrahi delivered an almost perfect free kick to the far post. Chan Ze Han was, after 79 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper Alecsandru Antal made the save. As the 80 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Moey Xin Seng reluctantly made way for Kalki Parvathaneni on the pitch. Chan Ze Han became the new Grilled captain. 80 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. Jos� Luiz Velho came on for Bilal Mohammad Harun. The referee showed Grilled's Enrique Baena the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 minutes beyond the regular 90 minutes. The crowd was on its feet 89 minutes into the match, as Benfleet's Hermano da Cunha found himself unmarked in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 3 - 3 equaliser. The match ends 3 - 3. Benfleet had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

Benfleet's top performer was clearly Liod Jaga. However, Olli Torvikoski made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was Chan Ze Han. Enrique Baena turned in a dismal performance, however.
