The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Cigarri, went for a 2-4-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their magical (18) ability to great effect. Cig fans held their breath as
David Kratky gallivanted down the left side. He successfully avoided all challenges and fired home the go-ahead goal for 1 - 0! 5 minutes into the game Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng found a gap in the home side's central defense and scored with a fabulous shot, making it 1 - 1. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. A mistake by the home side's central defense after 6 minutes allowed
Chan Ze Han to score for Grilled. The visitors have the lead, 1 - 2. With a shot lofted in from just outside the penalty area 21 minutes in,
Kenny Rantala of Cig evened the score to 2 - 2. Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre managed to lose the defenders as he burst through the right side and scored, putting the visitors ahead, 2 - 3. Maybe it was because of his team's lead, or maybe it was due to the ease with which he broke down the left, but
Gandhik Chitre was a bit too sure of his talents, so instead of taking the easy tap-in goal after 26 minutes, he went for the backheel, which he put woefully wide. Halftime score was 2 - 3. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 53 percent possession of the ball.
After 48 minutes, Grilled's
Gandhik Chitre burst through the central defense and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 2 - 4. Cig reduced the lead to 3 - 4 after 58 minutes when
Fehmi Madhi got the best of a lazy ball floated in from the left side. 60 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Mohd Marzuki Khairul came on for
Bilal Mohammad Harun. As the 60 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Kalki Parvathaneni reluctantly made way for
Enrique Baena. Cig's
Krzesisław Buczkowski was shown a yellow card after 69 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
73 minutes in, Cig appeared unsure on how to play and their organization was only poor (3). Some fine one-twos on the left led to a Grilled goal with 75 minutes gone, making it 3 - 5.
Chan Ze Han was noted down as the scorer. The home club's fans got back into the match when
Fehmi Madhi broke through the visitors' central defense and caught their keeper napping, making it 4 - 5. With the clock showing 80 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board.
Gandhik Chitre looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for
Prokop Mottl, though he would have liked to continue. The visitors nearly scored again after 81 minutes, but a superb save by
Kaloyan Shkutov kept
Bhavya Panigrahi's free kick out of the net. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes. The crowd was on its feet at the 89 minute mark, as Cig's
Tonino Ungredda found himself all alone in front of the goal after a dash up the left side. He calmly put away the 5 - 5 equalizer. The match ends 5 - 5. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 55 percent of possession.
Cig's top performer was clearly
Fehmi Madhi. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Göpf Biellmann today. The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt
Chan Ze Han. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Paulino Trindade seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
