Grilled 2 - 3 flops

32139 spectators had found their way to The Cooking Pot, despite the heavy rain. Sascha Korthals was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Hider Morera and Angelo Paravicini. The rain was pouring down, it was the kind of weather favoured by strong players who stick to simple football. For players blessed by speed or technical skills, the day really was as grim as for everyone else. Grilled's starters: Germanakos - Panigrahi, Webb - Trindade, An Keng, Keng Chuan, Khairul, Chuan Yong - Ze Han, Mohammad Harun, Xin Seng.

flops's lineup was: Al-Qaatri - Stefančič, Rivas - Ionescu, Öztan, Bîstriţchi, Castin, Davran - Robbi, Batin, Arosio.

As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. flops clearly preferred using their divine (+1) (21) ability to attack in the middle. flops's Franco Robbi placed the ball right at his teammate's feet after a corner, but Naim Öztan couldn't finish. 26 minutes into the game, Igor Batin had a great chance to put his team ahead, but his kick from the left went wide. After 30 minutes, Teo Chuan Yong strained his groin quite severely and had to be helped off the field by the physio. Enrique Baena tried to hide a smile as he entered the field. He had not expected to get a chance this day. The guests took the lead 38 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in Jonathan Federico Rivas scoring to make it 0 - 1. After 39 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Budulai Bîstriţchi who increased flops's lead to 0 - 2. Hareb Al-Qaatri slowly got up on his feet, clutching his right thigh, but eventually signalled that he was ready to play on. 42 minutes had been played and the home team was awarded a penalty, giving them a chance to get a goal back. The guests' keeper dived the right way, but was unable to stop the shot from Bhavya Panigrahi who made the score 1 - 2. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Grilled had most of the ball, with 53 percent of possession.

flops's Naim Öztan made it through the home team's defence on the right hand side 66 minutes into the match. After rounding the keeper, he only had to place the ball in the unguarded goal when a defender slid in and cleared the ball off the line. flops had a magnificent opportunity after 76 minutes as Darius Ionescu hit the ball hard from the edge of the penalty box. However, the shot went wide. After 77 minutes, Bhavya Panigrahi got through on the right and was very close to equalising for the home side, but didn't get the shot away. After 78 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave Vito Stefančič a chance to increase the lead for flops, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. Grilled supporters cheered as good work down the right got the ball to Aw Keng Chuan who reduced the visitors' lead after 80 minutes to 2 - 3. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution. Bilal Mohammad Harun reluctantly made way for José Luiz Velho on the pitch. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 2 - 3. Possession in this half belonged to flops, who controlled the ball 51 percent of the time.

The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt Chan Ze Han. Paulino Trindade was a disappointment, however. Most important flops player was Igor Batin. Darius Ionescu turned in a dismal performance, however.
