It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 4-4-2 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-5-2. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their world class (13) level with that tactic. The guests took the lead 8 minutes into the match, after a right-side attack resulted in
Chan Ze Han scoring to make it 0 - 1. With 13 minutes played, a quick exchange of passes on the left wing freed
Chirag Thevar of Grilled to slip through the defence and score another goal for the visitors. That made the score 0 - 2. 16 minutes into the match,
Hwang Teck Fu came through the middle and almost added to his team's lead, but the shot went wide. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. After 25 minutes, Grilled's
Chan Ze Han burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 0 - 3. The home crowd cheered when, after 38 minutes,
Hwang Teck Fu's charge up the middle resulted in the keeper making one of his best saves of the day. 0 - 3 was the score after the first half. Grilled enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 61 percent of possession.
As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Enrique Baena reluctantly made way for
Paulino Trindade on the pitch. After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Manuel Vadal off the field.
Cameron Law took his place. The cannonball from 35 metres by
Yee Jian Hui of Grilled was an impressive sight, but didn't make it into the net. Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle attacks.
Chan Ze Han was, after 49 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the centre, but the home side's keeper
Gu Chun Meng made the save. Had it not been for one of the home defenders,
Chad Thach would have put Grilled up another goal 55 minutes into the match with his audacious lob from the right wing. With 58 minutes played,
Chan Ze Han nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Kalki Parvathaneni gave
Atang Mangoye a quick hug as he left the field. The home side worked their way through the middle and almost got one back when
Kwek Lai Su tried to sneak the ball past the keeper.
Cameron Law was too alert for that! The referee showed Grilled's
Chirag Thevar the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge.
Chad Thach increased the visitors' lead by putting a volley away after a pass from the right. 0 - 4. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 1 minute as stoppage time. The match ends 0 - 4. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 59 percent.
Most important Jormungandr player was
Seet Hock Shun.
Kwek Lai Su was a disappointment, however.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled. However,
Mohsen El Khateeb made a disastrous appearance.
