Iraklis_Thessalonik 4 - 2 Grilled

A scorching day at Iraklis_Thessaloniki Arena, where 2325 spectators were in place for today's match. Dawood Al-Iriyani was the appointed referee with assistance provided by Youri Oosterveld and Kpemahouton Ali Yerima. The intense heat made it hard for players relying on strength or speed to shine. On the other hand, it provided perfect conditions for the more technical players. Iraklis_Thessalonik's starters: Dorland - Kousounadis, Limperidis - Moustopoulos, Tsounis, Alexandris, Evertsen, Ketikidis - Prasanakis, Voutsinas, Fragkopoulos.

The following players took the field for Grilled: Vadalà - Thevar, El Khateeb, Jian Hui - Baena, Kwang Tse, Teck Fu, Thach, Parvathaneni - Jaška, Mangoye.

It was to be a contest between two different football philosophies, since the home team started the game with a 2-5-3 formation while the visitors instead opted for 3-5-2. Atang Mangoye almost caused an own goal when he foolishly sent the ball towards his own goalie, but at the last minute one of his teammates managed to stop the ball. 10 minutes into the match and the home team took a 1 - 0 lead after breaking through on the left. The scorer for Iraklis_Thessalonik was Nikos Fragkopoulos. Iraklis_Thessalonik increased the lead as Bouko Evertsen struck to make the score 2 - 0 after an attack from the left left him unmarked in front of the keeper. After 31 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and Bouko Evertsen gave the Iraklis_Thessalonik supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 3 - 0. The teams went for the halftime break at 3 - 0. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 57 percent of the ball.

51 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defence had to look on as Dimitrakis Alexandris broke through, making the score 4 - 0 for Iraklis_Thessalonik. 70 minutes into the match, the referee signalled for a Grilled substitution. José Luiz Velho came on for Radovan Jaška. With Radovan Jaška no longer on the pitch, Kalki Parvathaneni took over free kick duty. Atang Mangoye would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise. Prokop Mottl entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 70 minutes. Kalki Parvathaneni was the new captain of Grilled - handed the armband by the departing player. The goal for 4 - 1 was a funny story: after 71 minutes the seemingly nonchalant lob from Grilled's Chad Thach landed at the feet of Prokop Mottl who sidefooted it into the net - nice goal! The referee announced 1 minute of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. Morale on the visitors' bench was greatly improved when their player Prokop Mottl reduced the lead to make it 4 - 2 after 89 minutes, following a pass from the right. The match ends 4 - 2. Possession in this half belonged to Grilled, who controlled the ball 56 percent of the time.

Most important Iraklis_Thessalonik player was Xerxis Voutsinas. Takis Prasanakis on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating Grilled player was without a doubt José Luiz Velho. However, Mohsen El Khateeb made a disastrous appearance.
