PJD 7 - 0 Grilled
Clear skies welcomed the 54640 spectators who had made their way to
Bukit Puaka.
Michael Elstal was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Sayed Rizk and
Eamonn Kendrick. The following players had been chosen by PJD:
Rabrenović -
Aguilar,
Shaw -
MacGlinchey,
Silverman,
Hartmann,
Di Buono,
Baumont -
Abd El Hamid,
Grych,
Takahashi.
Grilled fielded:
Law -
Panigrahi,
Webb -
Baena,
Thach,
An Keng,
Kwang Tse,
Mohammad Harun -
Ze Han,
Xin Seng,
Chuan Yong.
As the teams prepared to start the match, they both lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled clearly preferred using their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle. PJD took the lead 3 minutes in, as
Paul Baumont broke through on the left and put the 1 - 0 shot just beyond the reach of the outstretched keeper. A well placed corner kick from
Paul Baumont was followed by
Hilary Grych's hard but accurate header. The well executed routine resulted in a goal for PJD, the score now 2 - 0. Grilled's
Chad Thach was shown a yellow card for standing over the ball and blocking an opponent's quick free kick after 26 minutes. Things were deteriorating for the away team as PJD scored another to make it 3 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for
Hennes Silverman after 35 minutes. Grilled's
Chia Kwang Tse took a knock to the head after 36 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He looked wobbly for a second, but eventually just laughed it off and continued playing. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Ceri Shaw squirmed through their central defence after 38 minutes, increasing the lead to 4 - 0. 4 - 0 was the halftime score. PJD enjoyed most of the ball, as they maintained 55 percent of possession.
Having been awarded a free kick in an awkward position after 51 minutes, PJD did not go for a shot but instead fired the ball hard into the 6 yard box. After a brief tussle with his marker,
Malachi Takahashi was able to power the ball past the keeper to make the score 5 - 0. As
Bhavya Panigrahi had, completely unprovoked, swept the legs out from under an opponent in front of a linesman, the referee gave the Grilled player a red card without batting an eyelid. As
Bhavya Panigrahi left the field, the coach signaled to
Gilbert Webb to be the new set pieces taker. After 86 minutes,
Gilbert Webb came close to reducing the score with a free kick aimed near the left post, but
Batrić Rabrenović warded the ball off to a corner. After 88 minutes, the away team failed to deal with a good exchange of passes on the right, and
Paul Baumont gave the PJD supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 6 - 0. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Gilbert Webb off the field.
Atang Mangoye took his place. With
Gilbert Webb no longer on the pitch,
Bilal Mohammad Harun took over free kick duty. 89 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Bilal Mohammad Harun gave
Mohd Marzuki Khairul a quick hug as he left the field.
Bilal Mohammad Harun was coming off, and had placed his last free kick for the day. That meant that
Teo Chuan Yong got the chance to showcase his dead ball skills. PJD put themselves up 7 - 0 when
Malachi Takahashi broke through on the right, leaving the entire defence trailing in his wake. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 3 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 7 - 0. PJD claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 60 percent.
Hilary Grych performed admirably for PJD.
Paul Baumont on the other hand, had a terrible day. Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. On the other hand,
Atang Mangoye's play was disheartening.
