Good work by Grilled's defensive line after 5 minutes produced a good counter-attack chance, one of which cut elegantly down the middle of the field and found José Luiz Velho alone in front of the goal, but his shot whistled just wide. 15 minutes into the match, Grilled nearly took the lead, as José Luiz Velho broke through on the right. However, Cosmin-Alexandru Buzatu made the save. Grilled's Enrique Baena lived up to his reputation for finding unexpected ways to get the ball in the net when he sent a nifty little pass over to José Luiz Velho who scored for 0 - 1. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot from the right by Bilal Mohammad Harun beat the keeper with 19 minutes played, preventing Grilled from going up another goal. With 20 minutes played, Moey Xin Seng nearly put the visitors up by one more as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot whizzed just over the bar. After 26 minutes, Sandrats sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. In what looked like a well-rehearsed move, the ball was headed backwards and reached Gambo Idika, who had plenty of time to shoot and score - 1 - 1. Sandrats broke through on the left after 31 minutes, with Alessio Folli firing at an impossible angle to give the home side a 2 - 1 lead. Halftime score was 2 - 1. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 51 percent possession in this half was spot on!

46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. José Luiz Velho gave Prokop Mottl a quick hug as he left the field. What a cunning and devious display of artistry from the technically gifted Chan Ze Han! It's just diabolical what he's done to Mohammad Saeid Ghajarpour. He's scored for Grilled - 2 - 2. There will be years of therapy after that! After 61 minutes cheers broke out as Florentas Okinskas found his way through the guests' central defensive line, rattling the 3 - 2 goal in off the woodwork for Sandrats. Sandrats added another goal to their lead as Petr Alikov struck home for 4 - 2 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. After 73 minutes, Sandrats began to show their lack of experience and they threatened to wilt under the heavy pressure from their opposition. With the clock showing 80 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Aw Keng Chuan looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Chad Thach, though he would have liked to continue. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Sandrats's Hugo Materňák bringing the lead up to 5 - 2. The referee decided to let play continue for an additional 2 beyond the regular 90 minutes.
