Grilled 2 - 4 aharate

Fairly good weather for football at the stadium today. They fielded: Vadal - Panigrahi, Webb - Chu Soon, Xin Lee, Chuan Yong, Mohammad Harun, Kwang Tse - Xin Seng, Thach, Keng Chuan.

The following players took the field: Torres Tejada - Bakkal, Blanco - Cilaurren, Erasun, Puustinen, Aleman, Asensio - Kuhne, de Valdeorras, Kanelakis.

The coaches were in sync today, as both teams lined up in a 2-5-3 formation. Grilled went for a narrow approach, using their mythical (17) ability to focus their attacks down the middle. Grilled were very close to putting themselves one up with 15 minutes gone as Chu Xin Lee got through on the left, but a lapse in concentration sent the ball wide. Grilled's coach was furious with Chad Thach after he picked up a yellow for saying one too many words to the ref. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Chia Kwang Tse's name was chanted throughout the stadium after his goal in minute 32 following a run up the middle gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead. After 36 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Bhavya Panigrahi might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However, Jess Torres Tejada made a spectacular save. Chad Thach upset his teammates somewhat when he nearly caused an own goal by acting negligently. A run up the right wing paid off for aharate as Alberto de Valdeorras hit a wicked shot past the keeper to tie the game. 1 - 1 after 40 minutes. Some good play on the left wing created an opportunity for the visitors 43 minutes into the match, and Mikel Aleman wasn't about to waste it. He got past the defenders and fired a shot that the keeper just missed. 1 - 2 for the visitors. The teams went for the halftime break at 1 - 2. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.

As the 46 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution. Chia Kwang Tse reluctantly made way for Lim An Keng. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 49 minutes on the clock after Bhavya Panigrahi's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Grilled player a yellow card though. The Grilled equalizer came after 64 minutes when Bhavya Panigrahi floated in a free kick making the score 2 - 2 . The crowd was amused as Chad Thach of Grilled used a few interesting tricks and dribbles to get into the penalty box. The finish by Moey Xin Seng wasn't very amusing, however, and the score was unchanged. aharate took the lead 69 minutes into the game, making the score 2 - 3 after some elegant movement down the middle. Alberto de Valdeorras was the scorer. With the clock showing 75 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Chad Thach looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Paulino Trindade, though he would have liked to continue. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Lau Chu Soon gave Enrique Baena a quick hug as he left the field. aharate's Netos Kanelakis received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 77 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 2 - 4. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center. It was announced by the fourth official that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! Feeling like a boy about to meet his girlfriend's father for the first time, the inexperienced aharate struggled to maintain their level of play after 89 minutes. The match ends 2 - 4. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 52 percent possession in this half was spot on!

Grilled's top performer was clearly Teo Chuan Yong. Speaking of stinking up the place, Aw Keng Chuan sure smelled like the bottom of Batman's shoe after a night of crimefighting in Gotham. Most important aharate player was Netos Kanelakis. Good thing Jess Torres Tejada isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
