The spectators didn't look too happy about the constant raining at the stadium today. For strong, physical players the heavy rain was easy to overcome, it was even an advantage given their style of play. Others, such as the quick or technical ones, made bleaker appearances. The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Grilled Birds, went for a 2-5-3, while Black Stars Academy has decided to play a 3-5-2 lineup. Grilled mostly ignored the flanks in favor of their mythical (17) ability to attack in the middle. A questionable penalty after 20 minutes gave the home side the lead, 1 - 0. The visitors' goalie didn't stand a chance as Bhavya Panigrahi knocked the ball home. Chu Xin Lee gave Grilled supporters even more to cheer about when he increased the lead to 2 - 0 after 26 minutes, following a good exchange of passes on the right that the away team failed to deal with. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Academy's Richard Domfeh finally got himself booked for a foul. Academy's Oko Twum had a good first touch on the flank, but was quickly closed down so he crossed to Kwadwo Ofusu who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. Grilled's Gilbert Webb swung in a good chance from the left, but the visitors' defense were able to clear the ball. Academy's Bartol Čorić was shown a yellow card after 36 minutes for slicing down an opponent. The away team improved the scoreline to 2 - 1, as Claude Merens was able to strike home thanks to a good play on the left 37 minutes into the match. It was 2 - 1 at the break. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 61 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.

After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving Chia Kwang Tse off. Lim An Keng took his place. The home team thought they were lucky after a brilliant strike from the right bounced off the crossbar 48 minutes in. Jacob Addo was first to react though, and leveled the game at 2 - 2. With 54 minutes on the clock, the home side was awarded a penalty. The visitors protested wildly but the referee was adamant. Bhavya Panigrahi easily put the 3 - 2 goal away to hand the lead to Grilled. The referee showed Grilled's Moey Xin Seng the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Academy leveled the score after 59 minutes to make it 3 - 3, as Richard Domfeh struck home after a fine midfield combination through the middle left him completely unmarked. With 63 minutes played, a typically brave header by Grilled's Bilal Mohammad Harun from Lau Chu Soon's centered ball looped just over the opposing goalkeeper's desperate reach, making the score 4 - 3. After a play down the right 64 minutes into the match, Grilled's Moey Xin Seng unleashed a ferocious shot that smashed into the roof of the net - after going over the crossbar. Big paper red cards were being held up by the opposing supporters with 66 minutes on the clock after Ebenezer Idan's mistimed tackle from behind. The referee only showed the Academy player a yellow card though. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Chad Thach gave Paulino Trindade a quick hug as he left the field. 75 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Enrique Baena came on for Lau Chu Soon. As the match nears its end, the referee deemed it appropriate to add 3 minutes as stoppage time. The match ends 4 - 3. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 58 percent of possession.

The most outstanding Grilled player was without a doubt Teo Chuan Yong. I can't remember Aw Keng Chuan ever having a worse night than he just had. Academy's best player was Ebenezer Idan. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Bartol Čorić today.
