Grilled Birds trundled out to the pitch in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, k1n4d4, chose to start the game with a 4-4-2 lineup. Grilled used their mythical (17) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. Like the adage After 22 minutes of play,
Moey Xin Seng gave the home team a 1 - 0 lead after an attack coming in from the right. The home team will be cursing
Vincius Mora for weeks; he finished off a great pass from the left, knocking it past the keeper without a problem 31 minutes in. It's anyone's game now! 1 - 1.
Bhavya Panigrahi gave Grilled the lead 2 - 1 on a beautiful free kick in the with 32 minutes played. k1n4d4's
Davide Luigi Mana was shown a yellow card after 33 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Grilled had a good opportunity to attack on the wing, but remembered their instructions to go for middle instead. Cheers filled the stadium as
Chia Kwang Tse broke through the visitors' central defense to put away the 3 - 1 goal for Grilled. Coming in on the left,
Mickal Morin did everything right to get a goal for k1n4d4 after 37 minutes, but his curling shot was punched clear by the keeper. Maybe
Max Ricardo Cavalcante should join the aquatics team instead. He went down dramatically after 38 minutes, crying out with agony as he fell. The referee was not impressed, though, and showed him a yellow for diving. Halftime score was 3 - 1. Grilled did a good job holding on to the ball, with 61 percent of possession. We'll be back after these interminable commercial messages.
46 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Chia Kwang Tse gave
Lim An Keng a quick hug as he left the field. After 48 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Lim An Keng might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Selton Carlos Arrieiro made a spectacular save. The goal to make it 3 - 2 was scored by
Carlos Flix da Cruz with 49 minutes on the clock, following an opportunistic counter-attack down the middle by k1n4d4.
Aw Keng Chuan had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 50 minutes into the match, but he fired just over the crossbar. The visitors didn't give in and, after 54 minutes,
Valdisnei Alevato got through the home side's central line of defense, rolling in the leveling goal to make it 3 - 3. After 60 minutes, there was a bit of a mixup on the field as k1n4d4 found themselves out of position and their organization level dropped to passable (6). 70 minutes into the game, k1n4d4 seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a weak (4) level of organization. After 75 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Chad Thach off.
Paulino Trindade took his place. As the 75 minute mark approached, the Grilled manager decided it was time for a substitution.
Lau Chu Soon reluctantly made way for
Enrique Baena. The fourth official announced that there would be 2 minutes of stoppage time, giving fans a slim hope that their team could get one more attack in before this was all over. After a fine move down the middle
Paulino Trindade nearly put the home side one up with 90 minutes played. His final touch escaped him though and the keeper smothered the ball. With 91 minutes played,
Ednan Natale knocked one home from a counter-attack down the right wing, making the score 3 - 4. Grilled put pressure on the visitors' central defense with 91 minutes played, but
Bilal Mohammad Harun couldn't find an opening. The match ends 3 - 4. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 61 percent possession in this half was spot on!
Teo Chuan Yong performed admirably for Grilled. I can't remember
Aw Keng Chuan ever having a worse night than he just had. k1n4d4's top performer was clearly
Jos Mara Len Mendoza. Good thing
Selton Carlos Arrieiro isn't a horse, because he'd surely be sent to the glue factory after that performance.
