Kroolewscy 6 - 0 Grilled

Due to an all-day shower, the spectators got to see a match on a pitch-turned-bog. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. Starters: Odrowski - Leinert, Kurzyniec, Lefer, Ceroni, Nowakiewicz - Şumandea, Pastrán, Charęza - Majalahti, Berardo.

They fielded: Vadalà - Panigrahi, Webb - Mohammad Harun, Thach, Keng Chuan, Chu Soon, Kwang Tse - Xin Seng, Xin Lee, Chuan Yong.

The teams had chosen different formations for the match. The home team, Kroolewscy, went for a 5-3-2, while Grilled Birds has decided to play a 2-5-3 lineup. For their match strategy, Kroolewscy had decided to use their extra-terrestrial (16) ability to counter-attack whenever possible. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, using their mythical (17) ability to great effect. Paweł Odrowski looked great 7 minutes in after stopping a shot by the visitors' Chu Xin Lee. Teo Berardo was first to reach a long ball launched through the center from Kroolewscy's defense 8 minutes into the game. He managed to keep his cool and beat the keeper to make the score 1 - 0. After more pushing and shoving than a pack of helicopter moms trying to get the last appointment for their snowflakes to see the Easter Bunny, Kroolewscy's Herbert Leinert finally got himself booked for a foul. Kroolewscy managed to extend their lead to 2 - 0 when Teo Berardo slid in neatly from the left side and struck a fine shot past the away team's goalkeeper. 33 minutes into the match, the visitors' central line of defense had to look on as Tavi Şumandea ran straight through, knocking one home to make it 3 - 0 for Kroolewscy. After 35 minutes, Grilled got a chance to reduce their deficit by way of a penalty, but Bhavya Panigrahi embarrassed himself by clipping it wide. 3 - 0 was the score after the first half. Looks like Nate Silver was right again - his prediction that Grilled would have 53 percent possession in this half was spot on!

46 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution. Lim An Keng came on for Chia Kwang Tse. Kroolewscy added another goal to their lead as Teo Berardo struck home for 4 - 0 after an attack from the left set him up unmarked in front of the keeper. He's already scored two, and with the third, Teo Berardo has a hattrick! With the clock showing 75 minutes, the fourth official held up the substitution board. Chad Thach looked to see that it was his number in red, so he made his way over to the sideline and swapped out for Paulino Trindade, though he would have liked to continue. 75 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game. Bilal Mohammad Harun gave Enrique Baena a quick hug as he left the field. The clock read 78 minutes and things were deteriorating for the away team as Kroolewscy scored another to make it 5 - 0 after a left side attack resulted in a goal for Markus Majalahti. Coming in from the right, Tavi Şumandea almost managed to score another goal for Kroolewscy, but his header was kept out by the lightning fast reflexes of the visiting keeper. Kroolewscy solidified their lead at the 80 minute mark, as Michał Charęza snaked the ball through the central line of defense and finished for 6 - 0. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. The match ends 6 - 0. This part of the game was a standoff between the teams as far as possession.

The most outstanding Kroolewscy player was without a doubt Teo Berardo. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by Walter Kurzyniec today. Most important Grilled player was Moey Xin Seng. I can't remember Paulino Trindade ever having a worse night than he just had.
