FC Keramika fielded a 5-1-3 lineup. For Grilled Birds, the formation of choice was a 2-5-3. Like the adage Grilled used their divine (+4) (24) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the field. The head of
Chu Xin Lee connected with a beautiful corner kick after 20 minutes. He wasn't shooting, though, but rather passing to
Moey Xin Seng of Grilled who buried the shot for 0 - 1. 36 minutes into the game, Grilled worked the left side industriously creating several opportunities to add to their lead, but just couldn't apply the finishing touch. Coming in from the right, Keramika had a good opportunity to convert on a counter-attack after 37 minutes, but
Alessandro Luperto's attempt was easily stopped. 38 minutes into the game, Keramika seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and they fell to a passable (6) level of organization. With 39 minutes played, Grilled put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. The scorer was
Chu Xin Lee. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, and they were successfully passing the ball from the wing into the middle at the behest of their coach.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud came close to extending the visitors' lead when he found himself completely unmarked in front of the goal after a pass through the middle, but his attempted chip over
Paco Brinkman just kept rising and landed in the relieved crowd. Keramika's
Qutugh Eiji scored a screamer after 43 minutes, made possible by a deep pass from
Eric Cabello which cut through the entire defensive line. That's 1 - 2. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot from the right by
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud beat the keeper with 44 minutes played, preventing Grilled from going up another goal. Keramika's counter-attacks created a good chance for
Alessandro Luperto on the right after 44 minutes, but he could only look on with dismay as his strike rebounded off the crossbar. Grilled were determined to attack in the middle, even their wing attacks ended up coming through the center.
Moey Xin Seng was, after 44 minutes, almost able to extend the visitors' lead with a well placed diving header after the ball had looped into the center, but the home side's keeper
Paco Brinkman made the save. Keramika almost scored after a swift counter-attack 44 minutes into the game, but
Aliaksej Harczun put the shot from the left flank just outside the frame. 1 - 2 was the halftime score. Grilled had the upper hand in possession, maintaining an impressive 75 percent possession of the ball.
Keramika's coach had to raise his voice a little, but he also managed to raise his players' organization to solid (7) after reviewing his strategy. 62 minutes into the game, Keramika seemed a little tentative in their play as their organization fell to inadequate (5). 70 minutes into the game, Grilled wanted to bring some new energy to their game.
Kalki Parvathaneni gave
Vikram Mudaliar a quick hug as he left the field. Keramika's
Vania Hapau was shown a yellow card after 70 minutes for slicing down an opponent.
Grilled already had the lead, so
Bilal Mohammad Harun probably won't be too disappointed that his speculative shot from the right 77 minutes in fell wide of the goal. The bicycle kick from
Chu Xin Lee would have been the Goal of the Year for Grilled, had it not hit the post. The away team's
Chu Xin Lee took advantage of a mistake on the home side's right after 82 minutes increasing Grilled's lead to 1 - 3. 85 minutes into the match, the referee signaled for a Grilled substitution.
Prokop Mottl came on for
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud. After 89 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the field, waving
Chu Xin Lee off.
Radovan Jaška took his place. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time, they welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. With the match clock reading 89 minutes, the inexperienced Grilled team fell into disarray. Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar received a ball slotted perfectly through the home side's central defense after 89 minutes, and chipped it past the helpless keeper to increase the lead to 1 - 4. The away fans won't regret traveling for this one! The match ends 1 - 4. Grilled set the tempo, maintaining 77 percent of possession.
Keramika's top performer was clearly
Hami Binafard. Even six year old fans were wincing at the poor play by
Qutugh Eiji today. Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. You can tell it was nickel beer night yesterday at the local bar because
Manuel Vadalà seemed to stumble all over the pitch.
