Grilled 2 - 1 Football
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 38609 to
Tarpots Rec..
Eliseo 'Gatillero' Guerra was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Norbert 'Mesko' Mészáros and
Sergio Sistu. For some players the sunny weather was bad news. It made Powerful and Quick players a bit sluggish. For Technical players, it was instead an advantage, allowing them to shine on the pitch. The match took place on neutral ground. The following players took the field for Grilled:
Salmiņš -
Webb,

Mohammad Harun,

Grilled Birds started the game in a 2-5-3 formation, whereas Robbie Football Club lined up in a 5-5-0 formation. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) (24) level with that tactic. Going for long shots seemed to be the pick of the day for Football, taking advantage of their divine (+2) (22) level with that tactic. After some beautiful movement down the left wing,
Salah Kamel scored for Grilled putting them ahead 1 - 0, after 2 minutes. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Douglas Carapaica from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 37 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! Football's
Patrik Gulyás hurt his back 37 minutes into the match, and had to be convinced by the medical team that it was safer not to continue the match. This gave
Bonifacy Fiks a chance to take to the field instead. Grilled had to manage with a reduced squad after 42 minutes, as
Heng Dong Chu got sent off for a needless foul away from the game's action. It emerged that
Teo Chuan Yong had hurt his right foot after 42 minutes, which led him to abandon the game. The replacement for the injured player was
Sølve Lunde. Grilled's
Chan Ze Han got himself booked for a foul. 1 - 0 was the halftime score. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 55 percent.
After 59 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Sølve Lunde might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Howard Toman made a spectacular save. After 64 minutes,
Jānis Salmiņš suffered a slight injury to his right calf muscle. However, it was not enough to stop him from continuing the game. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Grilled solidified their lead at the 65 minute mark, as
Chan Ze Han dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 2 - 0. Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar took a knock to the head after 74 minutes, due to a badly executed header. He took a few uneasy steps, but got dizzy and then taken off the field.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud had already been warming up, and came on for
Vikram Mudaliar.
Gilbert Webb had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 77 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. After 79 minutes Football showed the crowd a glorious passing play which put
Even Raud in a perfect shooting position. His low hard shot was just as glorious, placed just inside the keeper's right post making it 2 - 1. As the match nears its end, the referee has deemed it appropriate to add 4 minutes as stoppage time. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng saw his fine effort strike the top of the bar following some good work up the middle by his teammates after 91 minutes. The match ends 2 - 1. Grilled had most of the ball, with 52 percent of possession.
Grilled's top performer was clearly
Chan Ze Han.
Bilal Mohammad Harun was a disappointment, however. Most important Football player was
Howard Toman. However,
Artur Forestier made a disastrous appearance.
