Grilled 1 - 2 Haha
A brilliantly sunny day had enticed a crowd of 84259 to
Tarpots Rec..
Italo Mazzucconi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Joaquim Garcia Carreira and
Phillip Frost. It was a sunny day and the Technical players could roll the ball around with ease. Those that had to chase after the ball found the weather less appealing, it especially stymied the game of Powerful and Quick players. The match took place on neutral ground. Grilled's starters:
Salmiņš -
Webb,
Lunde -
Kannan,
Mohammad Harun,
Kamel,
Chuan Yong,
Dong Chu -
Mudaliar,
Mazhud,
Ze Han.
Haha fielded:
Teani -
Viroux,
An,
Jie Feng,
Gudivada,
Ze Xin -
Corbean,
Tian Jin,
Parguiña,
Barboza -
Beugli.
Grilled Birds entered the field in a 2-5-3 formation. The visitors, Haha, chose to start the game with a 5-4-1 lineup. Grilled seemed to prefer attacking in the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) (24) level with that tactic. Using their counter-attacking abilities was the strategy of choice for Haha on this day, taking advantage of their utopian (19) level with that tactic. 1 minutes into the match, the Haha manager wanted to try a new tactic, and the players loyally obliged.
Aw Tian Jin had been tasked with man marking
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud. He did this well, but often fell out of position doing so, forcing his team mates to cover for him.
Heng Dong Chu neatly controlled the ball after a short corner, and knocked it on to
Shekar Kannan who had the whole net open before him, but only managed to hit the post. Having taken a hard knock between his legs,
Vikram Mudaliar limped off the pitch in a reduced state of dignity. He could not continue, managing only 32 minutes for his team this day. This gave
Moey Xin Seng a chance to take to the field instead. Grilled players heard their coach's words ringing in their ears and steered their wing attacks to the middle instead. The counterattacks of Haha were deadly and 37 minutes into the game,
Roger Viroux received a nice pass from the right flank, making it 0 - 1. The teams went for the halftime break at 0 - 1. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 81 percent.
Shekar Kannan tried using a burst of speed to get past his defender after 66 minutes, but it takes more than that to get past fast
Chua Ze Xin. 74 minutes into the match, Grilled's
Moey Xin Seng maneuvered his way around the opposition on the left flank, delighting the crowd with his twists and turns. The effort paid off as the ball found the back of the net, evening the score at 1 - 1. The counterattack by Haha resulted in a free kick that
Aw Tian Jin bent under the crossbar - 1 - 2! It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 1 minute. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 2. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 81 percent of the ball.
Chan Ze Han performed admirably for Grilled.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud on the other hand, had a terrible day. Haha's top performer was clearly
Tinu Beugli.
Aw Tian Jin turned in a dismal performance, however.
