ArseVikings 1 - 7 Grilled
53602 fans braved the pouring rain at
Tarpots Rec..
Sameer Bin Tareq Al-Nuaimi was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Johannes Brahms and
Alex Lomas. The wet pitch made it difficult for technical or quick players to stand out. For once, the players relying on physical strength gained the upper hand. The match took place on neutral ground. The following players took the field for ArseVikings:
Rosen -
Mosca,
Bador -
Trianon,
Musté,
Kitel,
Fossi,
Larrondo -
Porciani,
Papanikas,
Garre.
Grilled's starters:
Salmiņš -
Webb,
Lunde -
Kannan,
Mohammad Harun,
Carapaica,
Xin Seng,
Parvathaneni -
Mudaliar,
Mazhud,
Ze Han.
As the teams spread out over the pitch, it became clear that they would both be using a 2-5-3 formation today. ArseVikings mostly ignored the flanks in favour of their ability to attack in the middle, taking advantage of their supernatural (14) level with that tactic. Grilled used their divine (+3) (23) ability to concentrate their attacks in the middle of the pitch, rather than on the wings. It was a fine day for
Gabin Larrondo on his wing, his cross pass to
Edmundo Garre was especially delicate 13 minutes into the game, but the keeper saved. The terraces were silenced after 14 minutes when Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack on the right.
Gilbert Webb got left behind when ArseVikings's
Edmundo Garre left scorch marks in the turf 15 minutes, finishing off with a blisteringly swift strike. 1-1! Grilled's
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud could have put the guests one up after 25 minutes after chasing a through ball from the right, but
Nick Rosen was as fast as a snake, grabbing the ball from under his nose. 1 - 2 was the score with 28 minutes played, after
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud cut through the central defence and chipped home a goal for Grilled. After 29 minutes, an incisive pass through the middle gave
Vikram Mudaliar a chance to increase the lead for Grilled, and he did not disappoint. The score was then 1 - 3. After 31 minutes, Grilled's
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud burst through the central defence and let loose a cannonball of a shot, scoring for 1 - 4. 1 - 4 was the score after the first half. Grilled had most of the ball, with 75 percent of possession.
With 69 minutes played,
Bilal Mohammad Harun nearly put the visitors another one up as he broke through in the middle and fired from just outside the box, but his shot passed just over the bar. A defender managed to keep the ball from crossing the goal-line after a curling shot coming in from the right from
Vikram Mudaliar after 72 minutes, and prevented Grilled from going up another goal. The opposing supporters gave the referee an earful when he only gave
Kalki Parvathaneni from Grilled a yellow card after a mistimed challenge from behind 78 minutes into the game. That was far too lenient! After 80 minutes, Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni swiftly ran past
Angelo Mosca and nutmegged the keeper! 1 - 5. With 82 minutes played, Grilled's well-worked indirect free kick caused havoc in the penalty area, and when the ball eventually fell to
Douglas Carapaica he gleefully slotted the ball home to make it 1 - 6.
Douglas Carapaica received a delicate pass through the home side's central defence after 84 minutes, and chipped it past the flailing keeper to score making it 1 - 7. The Grilled fans went wild, whilst the home fans started to think about leaving early. It was announced by the referee that he estimated stoppage time to be around 2 minutes. This meant there could still be an extra attack or two left in the match! The match ends 1 - 7. Grilled claimed to have seen most of the ball, and the statistics agreed with them - possession being 77 percent.
The most dominating ArseVikings player was without a doubt
Ciro Porciani. However,
Rafa Trianon made a disastrous appearance. Grilled's best player was
Chan Ze Han.
Kalki Parvathaneni turned in a dismal performance, however.
