Grilled 7 - 0 Deinos
It had rained all day, but 55923 hardy fans still made it out to
The Cooking Pot.
Bernardino Lopes Gonçalves was the appointed referee with assistance provided by
Charles Fortin and
Ignacio Lobato. The pitch was a disaster, due to all the rain. This spelled problems for the more sophisticated players, who usually could rely on speed or technique. For those relying on grit and strength, it actually meant an edge. Grilled fielded:
Salmiņš -
Panigrahi,
Carapaica -
Kannan,
Xin Lee,
Chuan Yong,
Xin Seng,
Parvathaneni -
Mudaliar,
Mazhud,
Ze Han.
The following players took the field for Deinos:
Răducu -
Usel,
Abd El Khalek,
Truong,
Eng Dong,
Biliotti -
Salvans,
Long Hock,
Chao Ah,
Ridwan -
Tarkowski.
Grilled Birds fielded a 2-5-3 lineup. For Club Dinosauria, the formation of choice was 5-4-1. Grilled tried to focus their attacks down the middle, taking advantage of their divine (+4) (24) level with that tactic. Deinos decided to play creatively at a divine (20) level. With 10 minutes played
Vikram Mudaliar almost put the home team one ahead on a cross coming in from the right, but the shot went just wide.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud caused the crowd to go mental with his goal up the middle after 19 minutes. This gave Grilled the 1 - 0 lead.
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud of Grilled displayed some of his fantastic technical abilities when he brought the ball down neatly using his instep before nutmegging the bewildered
Zachary Truong and smashing an unstoppable shot past the goalkeeper to make it 2 - 0. Central attacks were the recipe of the day for Grilled, as they moved the ball from the wings to the middle with startling regularity. Things were going to get worse for the visitors.
Chu Xin Lee squirmed through their central defence after 30 minutes, increasing the lead to 3 - 0. After 38 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by
Moey Xin Seng might have resulted in another goal for Grilled. However,
Florea Răducu made a spectacular save. It was showtime for artist
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud who showed off his technical mastery when he rounded
Cheah Eng Dong and finished with a goal to make the score 4 - 0. By then
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud had scored three goals - a hat trick!
Shekar Kannan was doing a great job on his wing, sending in brilliant passes to his teammates in the middle, but
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud seemed unable to profit from this excellent service. Grilled put in a good effort on the right, but
Abd Hadi Taib Mazhud saw his volley fly wide of the mark 42 minutes into the game. It was 4 - 0 at the break. Possession in the forty-five minutes was dominated by Grilled, with 65 percent of the ball.
After 46 minutes, the Grilled coach wanted to see a new face on the pitch, waving
Chu Xin Lee off the field.
Salah Kamel took his place.
Teo Chuan Yong should probably have put his team up another goal after 50 minutes after breaking through the middle, but some great goalkeeping by
Florea Răducu kept the visitors in the game. Grilled's
Kalki Parvathaneni had a good first touch on the flank, but was crowded and, after a change of plan, sent the ball to
Vikram Mudaliar who somehow managed to curl the ball wide. A magnificent combination in the middle resulted in Grilled's
Vikram Mudaliar increasing the lead to 5 - 0. With 80 minutes having been played, his teammates looked on in disbelief as
Abd El Rahman Abd El Khalek thoughtlessly misplayed the ball, setting up Grilled's
Chan Ze Han for an easy goal. 6 - 0.
Bhavya Panigrahi had a fantastic opportunity to put Grilled up another goal 82 minutes into the match after a pass through the middle set him free, but he fired just over the crossbar. As the 89 minute mark approached, the Grilled coach decided it was time for a substitution.
Teo Chuan Yong reluctantly made way for
Bilal Mohammad Harun on the pitch.
Douglas Carapaica would have preferred to play on, but his coach decided otherwise.
Gilbert Webb entered the game for Grilled as the match clock showed 89 minutes. The players were tired, but when the referee announced that there would be 2 minutes of added time they, nonetheless, welcomed the extra opportunity to make an impact. It was obvious that team Grilled had instructions to attack in the middle instead of on the wings. Grilled solidified their lead at the 89 minute mark, as
Bhavya Panigrahi dribbled the ball through the opposing central defence and scored to make it 7 - 0. The match ends 7 - 0. Grilled had most of the ball, with 66 percent of possession.
Most important Grilled player was
Chan Ze Han. However,
Kalki Parvathaneni made a disastrous appearance.
Chew Long Hock performed admirably for Deinos.
Zachary Truong turned in a dismal performance, however.
